VPSes for botting - Talk about them here!

When it comes to VPS services it really is you get what you paid for. The concept of 'too good to be true' really does apply here. The companies who offer stupidly cheap VPS ($8 for 1GB ram etc) usually oversell like all hell.

The most important thing to remember is to make use of your investment. Regardless of how 'wealthy' you may be, it's nothing but stupid to own a VPS if you aren't a serious botter.

 

Okay, so which VPS company allocates resources? Seerhost or PhotonVPS?

 

I'm personally finding photon to be really hard to set up for botting.

$40 useless down the drain.

 

Correction, you find Unmanaged VPS hard to set up by yourself. Provider makes no difference if you pay for something and don't know how to use it. You can PM me your problem and I can try my help to help, and if need be we can talk on msn about it tonight.

 

I've botted Sorc for 3 days straight now and got my first random that the bot has failed. You guys think it's because there was a system update and the programmers need to fix a few things?

You don't cancell on the Photon side. Go to your paypal and go under recurring payments and cancel there.

Guys its been a roller coaster even after being in the VPS game for a mere 2 days. I want to preface this first by saying that i am deathly ill right now with some kind of sinus infection. I've lost my voice and my head feels like it may explode. When registering at Photon I misspelled my email address. I purchased the warp 2 package (only package available) and checkout etc. eat dinner and come back to find my session logged out. I go to log back in and it says that my email account is not recognized. After 30 hours and 4 tickets and dealing with Ken lv 1 engineer and Murray lv 2 engineer, my request to have my email changed to an email that actually exists so I can login has finally be transferred to photons billing department. This is NOT a good start to what Im sure will be an epic saga involving me attempting to install the vps and run nexus. I'll keep you guys updated.

Side note. I plan on using this vps to do some SW botting. I hear that rsbots.net's sw bot is superior to Perfectious. (I am a huge supportor of Perf) what would be the most advantageous settings to use for a 1 defense pure? does burying bones give pray exp? And lastly, Puro Puro or Slades RC bot? Considering I already have an account with 99hunt? Slades rc bot is glitch free and makes 500-600k an hour at 90+ rc, but would take almost a month to get to 90+ rc... While puro puro is riddled with bugs yet averages 300-500k an hour with the potential to make 1m an hour..

 

Log in to PhotonVPS.

At the top of the page click "My Services."

This will take you to a page which shows your VPS (It should be green where your VPS is located on the page).

Click on the green arrow on the right side (of the green part).

Scroll down and hit "Request Cancellation."

A screen will pop up with a place to type in your text, under that is a selector box that says Cancellation Type. Select "End of Billing Period." Then finish by selecting "Request Cancellation."

 

I wouldn't recommend OpenVZ to anybody, Xen might be expensive but you get what you paid for.

omg figured out what i did wrong i misspelled the command nan /root/.vnc/xstartup. I spelled roo instead of root. What do I do know? can i close putty and restart?

 

^ Go to the email they sent you, in the email there should be a link which takes you to your server "headquarters."

You will then need to redownload your OS, if your using CentOS 32bit, REdl that, if your using CentOS 64 bit, REdl that. This will wipe everything on your current VPS.

Then you will have to start that guide over again.

I'm not 100% sure this is the only way, but it only takes like 10 minutes.

 

They will send you an invoice, just choose not to pay it. Once your due date is up you can just request a termination by either doing it manually at their website under "services" or submitting a ticket.

Openvz is actually a very convenient and stable virtualization platform. There are statistics that show performance is better as opposed to Xen as well, although under certain circumstances. Xen does offer alot of flexibility and resource management on the host level and they say you get your "own resources", but you get that with openvz as well. But to be honest if ran properly both technologies can run very well for the purpose we use them for. As with photon they prefer you use their Xen servers.

Yeah edit it to proper information, press CTRL X and y, then press enter. You should type in vncserver after that to boot up and continue with installation.
