im thinking about dual booting ubuntu and vista, the only thing that i am worried about is. will any of my stuff i have saved be deleted? because if it is i obviously wont install ubuntu

Not sure, it would be smart to back it up before messing around with anything.

It won't be as long as you install Ubuntu on its own partisan (or how ever you spell it... >_>).

Try this: http://wubi-installer.org/

It makes it really easy, and doesn't split partitions. You'll have all of your Ubuntu files on your c:\ - or whatever drive letter - partition, so there is minimal, if any, chance of curruption/deletion.

Wubi makes a transition a lot easier, and will aid you in your future Linux endeavors.

WUBI is a good solution.

Vista has a way to edit partition live while in the OS, you can use that shrink the partition you are currently using a bit and install ubuntu on that.

If you don't feel safe doing that I suggest wubi
