major boot issues
my computer was running windows xp sp2, then i tried to make my pc a duel boot and put ubuntu on it, while installing ubuntu i removed my xp. but the installation for ubuntu failed at about 20%, so now i have no operating system at all. i have a windows 98 boot disk which i thought i could install then upgrade back to xp from there. but i am unable to install win98. i get this dumb error message every time, ( unable to install windows 98 ) because there is something wrong with my hard drive partition or something like that.
does anybody have any tips at all?

Sound pretty bad. I'm not sure what you could do? Try reformatting your HDD then reinstall?

You won't be able to install windows 98 on that hard drive if its formated in NTFS.

I would put that hard drive in a working computer and format it. And then install XP and Ubuntu.

You can delete the wasted ubuntu partition using the built in partition manager in your live cd if you still have it

Your going to have to RE-partition the disk, I'm not sure if just formatting will actually revert the disc to being un-partitioned (unless you want it in halves :|). I try to stick away from partitioning disk, things can often go wrong.
