The fine details (such as requirements for change, etc) will be discussed in depth between the staff pending the results of this poll, then ultimately the final approving authority will have to be Richard himself.

 

I say yes, ultimate example for me would be simple changes like

Voted yes. I hope it is more than 1 ever, once per year would be fine imo. It doesn't need insanely high requirements either, just a time limit is fine.

If your profile comes with a "previously known as" it wouldn't be confusing unless you have the intellect of a mushroom.

"Make a new account" is a shitty policy. This is one of these "its always been this way" situations.

Just because you were one of the very few people that made a new account because you did not like your Sythe name, this not mean every single other person should be punished that did not do the same thing you did.

I voted yes, mainly because I want to capitalize my name and I'm sure there's lots of users that want to do the same.

I'm also hoping that changes like these, are open for all members to request, it's not a big deal. The total name changes could be like a donor perk or w/e.

 

Yes, and it shouldn't be for just mods and people who have donated or have a high post count. Everyone should be treated equal and have the right to do what someone else does.

 

That's not how the world works.

 

Doesn't mean just because you're not popular or well known on a forum you don't get the chance to change a name. I'm all for it being strict but don't let the minority win all the time.

 

People who donated $300+ with tons of vouches wont want to make a new account for a different name.. That's why this could help people out like binladenas14.

 

I understand that, but what about someone who posts regularly has roughly 500 posts with 20 or so vouch's for example? Why would you limit him? I understand new people who have no reputation have no chance and nor do they deserve it, I'm just voicing my opinion that it should not be limited to mods or donors and people who have given alot to the community in other means deserve a name change.

 

I'm not saying that everyone should have the option to request a name change, I agree that donors+staffs should be able to change their names.
Maybe it can be a new perk in $25 or $50 donator.

 

This is easy to say to people with accounts like mine, but when you look at users who have been here for years, are trusted with lots of posts and vouches, etc., creating a new account seems like a ridiculous option compared to simply changing your name.

However, the opposite side of this coin suggests the new official system implemented and all of the prerequisites for eligibility will certainly cause some confusion and a lot of extra work.

 

Not a fan of name changes for regular users, and especially not a fan of drastic changes.

 

Only should be allowed if people want to make small changes, for example, capitalise the first letter in their name.
