Real World Trading through the Duel Arena

The Duel Arena is an iconic part of Old School RuneScape, yet it has its problems. The Duel Arena is currently fuelling Real World Traders that stake based on odds to acquire huge sums of in-game gold, which they then sell online. We do not want to remove the Duel Arena from the game as it's particularly iconic to the feel of Old School RuneScape. So we'd like to discuss some options with you in order to address the problems we face:

• An option to adjust your stats, similar to the Tournament Worlds. This option would mean that the odds stakers lose their advantage, and we keep the Duel Arena open.

• A trade weighting limit on stakes which would prevent one side being heavily weighted over the other. This again is with the intention of stopping odds stakers. It would work akin to the trade limit of old. You can stake as much as you'd like, but your opponent has to stake an amount which is within a certain range of your stake.

 

Does this not also ruin max stakers and renters? Because you can adjust your stats to 99/99/99? So everyone seems to be in hot water here?

 

This also kills account leveling services and account sales

GF gold sales too? People won't have stock 24/7?

Seems like it, if it is similar to tournament worlds then all your stats will be 99/99/99 in that stake. I don't think gold will ever cease but account rentals and leveling services will cease in combat.

 

This is huge, be sure to complain to them via twitter/reddit and every where else, not to mention the fact that this update is going to hurt them a ton. They'll have way less players and now everyone is able to stake their bank at the duel arena and you better believe a lot of people are going to chuck tomorrow when the update happens.

so i maybe go to sleep today , and tomorrow when i wake up i can stake with a lvl 3. Thats crazy goddam.
I thought this changes were intended for the near future but not tomorrow Lol. I dont think they will push all this tomorrow considering they said "it wont be polled but would like to hear feedback"

 

How this kills account leveling services/sales? This only affects to rental accounts and maxed staker/x-er stakers.

EDIT: And I'm 100% sure that in the first hours someone will find a glitch/bug to bring those stats outside of duel arena, that will be fun.

 

purespam paid his uni fees and now gets it banned

 

I used to be a nmzer and would train 60 accounts at once, 95% - 97% of the accounts would be stakers, so it will HEAVILY affect combat training services.

 

Dam thats though.. anyone got a video of rs staff members talk about it?
