Rare miniranks to promote thread creation

support. at the moment, most miniranks are impossible to get without paying a large sum of money.

I don't think a boost of activity would be bad at all.

Maybe this will be more feasible with the new forum software that's coming.

 

Too many suggestions have been put on the back-burner than forgotten about because of "upcoming forum software" (looking at you vb4). I don't think it's a good excuse anymore, and with a suggestion that is seemingly simple to implement, and help foster activity I don't think think ignoring it and waiting for something new to finally do it is smart.

 

Even so, it wouldn't make sense to start working on these things now, as compatibility issues may arise later when importing the site over. The new forum software is more flexible than vBulletin, so that helps too. All the focus is being placed on the new forum software. It's understandable why things are being placed on hold for the time being.

 

When are the changes supposed to happen?

 

I can't give a specific date, but it's really soon.

 

I think this would be a nice addition. Supports more thread making (althought some might be spam)

To my knowledge vb4 was ready to go, but the plug was pulled after the consensus was to stay with the current software. I and many other staff members can attest to seeing the new forum software. A lot of effort has been, and still is being placed on this almost ready to go project. I'm certain Richard knew all the pros and cons before starting on this new project. I don't see him pulling the plug twice.

 

I don't know if anyone really cared at all that vb4 didn't come out. What I cared about, and I'm assuming others did is the suggestions that were blown off because "something new is coming, we don't want to do it twice" and then nothing came and then many great ideas just died because no one wanted to be proactive and implement the suggestions then.

To be fair unless it's something extremely simple like the creation of a subforum, nothing really gets done around here.

 

Bumping to keep this at the top before it's ignored and forgotten.

 

Negativity and shooting down ideas doesn't really foster an atmosphere that promotes new ideas and suggestions. I'd leave that for the spam forum, not a suggestion thread.
