Question for Atheists

Not like that, just some entity that can't be properly described.

That's within the universe, I'm saying that if there is a god that created the universe I think it would be some sort of entity. Although there's no evidence at all to prove god existant or nonexistant.

Meh, I can't argue with you there. If I were to believe in some sort of higher being I'd probably believe in some sort of undecribable entity of sorts.

There could still be no god if it had only existed for a limited amount of time, the Big Bang might've started at the very beginning of time itself.

something can't begin for no reason.

what i dont understand is.

what is god
how did they exist before time
who wrote the book

The only reason people believe in religion is because they dont want to go to hell.

You often ask the same fucking questions, and I give you the same fucking answers. its starting to piss me off. no matter how many times you ask the same question, I'll give you the the same answer.

God in the sense of which your talking is the diety the created the universe, and us

He existed before time, because it is simple possible to exist before time. Time as you and me percieve it, started at the beginning of the universe, it is possible that thing exist outside of our universe, that are not in time.

Which book? theres only like billions of books in the world

how did he write a book when he is supernatural?

do you understand the defenition of supernatural? something that exists outside of nature, can still have an effect on nature.

True that.

How did the world come along then?

How did he have the power to build it?

How did he have the imagination for it?

God created the world.

God existed with all-power.

What give you an imagination?

The fact is there was no creation. I know you know that, but i'm answering for the others. To say God created us, the earth, universe, etc contradicts the typical belief in God. The Christian belief anyways.

The creation of our universe can't be described as having a beggining and an end. It can be theorized, but not proved. So, as previously said, belief in ANY God is a belief in something with NO empirical evidence and no scientific credibilty.

Almost nothing in this world is a proven fact.

I'm not sure what your trying to say.

You believe the Universe has no begging nor end? so then you deny the big bang? If you believe the big bang, then the universe had a beginning, and its hard to believe that you don't.

Well its irational

Nothing can live for over 100billion years.

If god was real he would of allready left us.

Were all dirty sluts, we kill, we rape, and modern society is so fucking materialistic, kids get blocked by others, or social abused. To where they have no friends and want to kill everyone.

Were all gona die, but we arnt going to heaven, were gona stayy in a coffin until they reserect Hitler and he A-bombs the shit out of us.

If people really beleived in god, then they wouldn't be scared of dying, and in my whole life, i have never seen anyone who isn't scared of shit.

They cant face the fact that after you die, thats the end, nothing else happens.

What says nothing can exist for eternity?
Why would God leave His people?
This what our society does, when they do not have moral standards.
I'm not here to talk you into believe in eternity, even though I should, I won't
I'm not scared of dieing anymore, if you really want to kill me, do it, as you would say, "I don't give a fuck!"
You have no way to prove, that that does happen after you die, but when I'm dieing and your burning in hell, I'll feel sorry for you.

I can describe that entity in one word..."science"

contradictory to beliieve that science is in entity that can't be described is just to be dumb as shit. A Scienitfic fact, is something that can be described and proven.

Ok, but i shall say this, without hell, religion would be nothing.

if you dont have fear in the world, then the good in the world doesnt look so good.

Oh wow, your so good, and how many times have you said this already? If Hell did not exist, you could then tell who was simply in a religion to escape hell, and who was actually devoted to there religion.

You would still fear death, no matter hell or not, if you do not have confidence in afterlife, then anyone will fear death.

but if you did not believe in heaven, and died then you would have nothing to fear.

but if you did not believe in heaven, and died then you would have nothing to fear.

If you do not believe in heaven or hell in the afterlife, then there is no religion, because there is no afterlife, to take away an afterlife in a religion destroys all religion, and there is no point in any religion.

but if you do not believe in one, then the other one starts to fall apart, seeing how you do not need it.

Many of you ask how a god cannot exist, but can you please show me some evidence of how a god cannot exist?

Thank you.

This is the sad part, that the only things religious people can do when someone asks them for proof of god is turn the question back at the atheist.

Just curious, of all the religions and subreligions (wrong term?) withing each of them what makes the one you believe in the right one?

Is it simply because it is the one you were introduced to as a child? Is it because all your friends follow it? Is it because you had some sort of experiance with it? Or something else?

I'm directing this towards imnotcrazy under the assumtion that you follow some form of Christianity. Even if you're not the same general question applies.

Oh, and there are a few religions out there with no belief of an afterlife.

is there really a definite look of god?

i usually see pictures of him with long hair, white, somewhat muscular body.

would i be wrong to say he is black, has curly hair, and fat?

Simple answer though I am not atheist.

Human 1 believes in a higher power, a(the) God.
Therefore God exists in his/her reality.
Human 2 does not believe in a higher power.
Therefore God does not exist in his/her reality.

The answer to if a God exists or not depends on what you believe.
Tell me, if God exists, but doesn't exist, then what is it?

No it's not neutral.

Re-think your question :)

but if you do not believe in one, then the other one starts to fall apart, seeing how you do not need it.

ok, well the thing is without heaven there must be a neutral phase, or does everyone just go to hell? and without hell is there a neutral phase, and everyone just goes to heaven?

If so on either, then people will strive for the better. Think of it this way, without heaven the neutrality is a peaceful death, with no after life, but if your a sinner then you burn in hell, alone, for all eternity, many would strive for a simple neutralility. Without a hell, we could say the neutral phase is death with no afterlife, which is for the sinner. Then there would be this greater place were you could spend eternity to commirses with others, and never be bored. Without one the other could still exist its not very difficult to comprehend.

It depends on your definition of proof.

Oh, and there are a few religions out there with no belief of an afterlife.

For the first part, I'm guessing your speaking of denominations within the church. We'll there are simply many ways to interperate the Bible, just like any piece of literature. different denominations are simply all Christian, its just the way they interperate certain parts of the Bible.

Often when religion is introduced to someone as a child, from what I've seen from being around these types of people, they are often alot worse, and often leave the chrch, other then some of the people who come later on in there life, after comprehension of what they are believing.

Having friends that go to the same church, is often very important, but not necessary. To go to a church just because "oh, everyone cool goes there" in my oppinion is just stupid. I have a few friends like that, but I see it as atleast they go to church.

Having an experience with a certain religion, or group of people is often what drives the curiousity of people, and acutally gets many people into a religion.

I'd like to read about that, can you name a few that do not believe in the afterlife.

is there really a definite look of god?

i usually see pictures of him with long hair, white, somewhat muscular body.

God created man in his image, thus He looks like man. If you are speaking of God in Heaven, then I believe He looks somewhat like us, if you are speaking of Jesus Christ, then He looked somewhat mediteranian, but thats just an educated guess.

Pictures are depections of what God could look like, or make reference to God in art, God could look like any of us.

God either exists or does not. It's not what you percieve reality as, its that He does or does not.

If you reject God, then you are often rejecting happenings in the world, and you are closing your mind to somethings. People often say the same of religion, and it could go either way, as both sides are rejecting parts of the other.

I have just a couple things to say

God is a state of mind, if you do not believe he exist, he does not and vice versa. Have you ever thought there to be more than just God. God is seemingly just a higher being. Many people try to dispute that certain religions don't believe in God or that is only accepted through one religion. Well then why would God create different people with different views.

For this discussion on hell, if any of you had bothered to pick up a bible you'd realize that what was written was

"In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth"

This does not mention hell And as my last point

Remember that the bible was written by man not God.

Would you have written the same in that position??

Many cultures use to believe, and some still do that there are way more then just one god. You have your own view created by you, and the environment you grew up in, it is possible to change your own view.

It actually says in the begining God created the heavens and the earth. The heavens is refrence to the starts, or outerspace not to the Heaven of eternity, that your thinking of.

The Bible was written by God through man.

Denominations, yes, I feel dumb for forgetting the term. Anyways, I've never understood how different denominations can have such differant interpretations. As it seems some of them are quite differant and would make a large differance in the afterlife or life on earth. The first that comes to my mind is the Babtist belief that you CAN'T fall away from faith (once saved your in so to speak) and the Methodist belief that you CAN fall away from faith. I mean under this very differant beliefs I'm going to heaven if I'm Babtist and hell if I'm Methodist. Others involve the Catholic idea of Purgatory, and some churchs/individuals (not sure if it applies to a specific denomination) who believe that all religion leads to the same place (sugar coated view if you will). Then the other group believing that only their Belief is right and ALL other religions lead to hell, even people who never have a chance to hear the word go to hell. Once again, very big differances within a religion.

As far as my church going friends, I can think of 3 that actually ask questions and really try to make sense of things. The rest honestly have no depth to their belief. I've asked the simple question "Why are you a Christian?" countless times and I always get some overused crap that involves no thinking. When I try to explain the logic against what they are thinking they just get offended and tell me i'm going to hell, BUT still they have no argument and no legit reason for their beliefs. I am from the Bible Belt of Alabama, so blind followers are in abundance. To say your an athiest or even a believer of some other religion here is grounds for being excluded from a lot of things.

Quick story to sort of show you the kinds of christians you'll find where I live.
When I finally openly declared my athiesm I lost quite a few "friends" simply because they think athiesm is "of the devil" or something. I hadn't gone to my church for over a year and it had been 3 or 4 months since people knew my beliefs. One day I decided to go back to my old church, just to see some old "friends". I was expecting a warm welcome back, etc, etc. Instead I was greated with hostility and questions like "Why are you even here?" At the end of the session, I was told by our YOUTH LEADER, that I shouldn't come back because he didn't want me "poisoning" the beliefs of the other people in the group...

Edit: I'm at school right now, I've got a list at home of those religions. I'll get them to you tonight if I think about it.

WHO can show me some evidence of how a god exist?

lol

I think all the things depend on your faith .
