Pinlines=Illegal.

I hear it's a test line, to test the line. But i'm not sure if that gets a pin.

See, if someone isn't charged, Jagex still is. Therefore it's still fraud.

Meaning Jagex is NOT getting their money, therefore it's fraud.

I didn't know that you used a phone number...so why are pinlines so coveted, couldn't you just use any old Aussie's phone number?

Of course you didn't know. Maybe you should ask your dealer, he probably knows all about pinlines. ;)

To those that aren't sure:
Pinlines are phone numbers or phone systems that let you make calls through those numbers, sort of like a proxy. Any purchases you make will be charged to that phone number, meaning whoever owns it will be left with a bill to pay for all these pins.

Pin lines are the only way to get pins, sell them for 20-30% of their price, and make a profit.

I think that's the point people are trying to convey. There is absolutely no legitimate way to buy pins in bulk with a discount, to allow someone to sell them for $2-4 each and still make a profit.

Someone somewhere is using a ******** to get them.

Basically, people are selling fraudulently attained goods.

Why has nobody stated that if the # from which the pins are bought from refuses to pay/calls up the phone company, the PIN is banned and Jagex puts your account in negative membership...

According to the rules then, if somebody prooves that their account was banned from a faulty stolen pin, the pinseller (most of whom are very trusted) should be banned from sythe...

^I'm sure rsaccounttrader doesnt like that statement so either we make pinline pins illegal or we ammend the rules so that if a faulty stolen pin is sold, the pinseller has to restore credit to the buyers account/has to provide reimbursement. This way the risk to the buyer (pretty low) is covered fully by the seller in the exchage for stolen pins.

I don't mind your statement at all. I have never had a case of any of my pins causing an account to land in negative balance, that being said, i do not know where they originate from.

Yes but I'm saying that under the rules, you're responsible for the pins you sell(even though you dont know where they came from). So you and other pin sellers could UNKNOWINGLY sell a pin causing negative credit. Then a mod would have to ban you. My solution (if pinline pins are continued to be allowed) is that you (the pinseller) provide some sort of limited time protection blah blah etc.. to your buyers.

I'll even make an example:
I buy a pin from you.
I let you redeem it on my account via teamviewer or just directly.
You note the account name.
If i come back within 20-40 days with proof that EXACT account is in negative credit you provide 'buyer protection' and restore it.

1. This is off topic.
2. I no longer sell retail pins, only bulk, so this is irrelevant.

It wasn't directed at you,it was directed at the whole buying/selling pins in general.

How is this off topic?
I read pages of people saying 'omg it only hurts tha companiez' but it can harm sythe members as well. Just putting it out there that there have been cases of pinline pins backfiring.

are using pinlines against USA law?

If it is, what could be the punishment and is retail pin sales allowed?

Pinlines are illegal. Why would someone sell a pin for 2-4 dollars, when they cost twice as much when obtained legally? To all the people, mods and administrators in particular, when you say you dont know where i get my pins from, it doesnt matter. Im pretty sure you do not pay 5.95 + for a single pin, and then sell them for 4 dollars. Most pin sellers, get them from dealers, who most likely get them from pinlines. Since moderators are selling pins, which makes them money, i do believe that the sale of illegal pins will be allowed on sythe. They (moderators and other sellers) will continue to use the excuse " you dont know where i get my pins from" and i do not see the end to pin sales.

using pinlines - you scam 10$ from A PERSON. This is the same kind of scamming that gets you BANNED.

Wrong, it's owned by a company and you're not scamming them.

Pin lines don't work like that.

A ******** is essentially a line tester used by re-seller companies of telstra, all they do is test a line, now in the case of any 1-900 number it works just like a regular phone, and you can get the pin. NOBODY gets charged though. (I may be wrong)

So no-one gets charged?

it's not scamming or stealing? just Jagex dosent get the money?
so it's not illegal in US law then?

Wait, if nobody gets charged, then who pays for the pin? o.O
You can't just get free pins, Jagex has to get paid first.
