Military/Veteran Minirank.

Suggesting that a MiniRank is made for everyone who is serving in the military currently, or for users who have served.
Proving it is easy. Just have them send a picture of there Military ID.

Don't think it is necessary than that is your opinion. This is just a suggestion. Anything you want to add/change please say it below! Thanks for reading

 

What is the point?

 

Photocopying/taking pictures of Military ID is against federal law.

Why? I don't see any benefit in this.

 

I don't see why not, but personally I don't see a huge desire for this either. The fact that you assumed they could send in a picture of their ID suggest you aren't military, and although there are several military users on the website, i've never seen one request this.

Additionally, what do you suggest the minirank would be? It would be somewhat hard to decide taking into account that most people on here aren't from the same country (although US/Canada/UK(including England) seem to be the main 3 on here) and different symbols of military service may not be applicable to various military servicemen/servicewomen from around the world. If we were to implement only a minirank for certain countries or one specific country, this may make people of another ethnicity or those who served for another country feel alienated.

 

I'm all for this because I'm American but you'll find many anti US military or anti US people on sythe, remember the community is diverse and the military is an especially touchy subject for those outside the US, theres even a "why are military people respected" thread that's like ancient.

I also don't think its feasible to submit ID to an admin to get a minirank, it also doesn't really have a point short of rewarding their service(which I get, but a pixel on a forum is kinda, meh u know)?

I support I think this should be like rock bottom on the list of things to do though.

 

I support this. Would be kind of cool to show respect for those who served. I personally am in the Army so you wont see me not support this lol.

Though the minirank should not suggest any countries military specifically. Keep it open for everyone.

I still don't see what the point is.

War is not a good thing. There are a lot of people who disagree with the idea of army's/navy's/military. People from all different countries, all different services..


Like @Realist said, Doctors and Firefighters, Paramedics.. they're the type of people who are worthy of appreciation more so.

If we had no army/navy who would be fighting wars for us? I'm assuming you live in the US, and without a strong army, we wouldn't be shit.

 

No one type of profession deserves more benefits or appreciations then the others. Just because you're in the army/navy/military doesn't mean you're better then those other professions. As majority of people have said above it would just escalate into other things. Religions, Doctors, other professions, political groups even, etc etc.

 

Not saying that Doctors and other professions aren't important, but in the US when you see a Veteran, most people stop the person and thank them for their service.

 

Right and? This isn't just an American forum.

Not everyone stops people to thank them, not everyone is fond of wars or army's etc.

 

Thanking them is a respectful thing to do, you're paying respects for them risking their lives fighting people. I was assuming that people in other places also thanked Veterans whenever they saw them, because it just seems like the right thing to do. I'm not fond of war, but when war is coming it doesn't matter if you are fond of it or not, you need people to protect you.
