Make Moderator Applications Public

I wanted to keep it simple so that would be the partial option.

 

Gonna have to agree with letting it be up to the ones applying for the positions. I feel like having them all open will just allow users to flame or hate on people they have grown to dislike that may be applying. Doesn't really benefit the community.

 

I highly support a hybrid. I would like to see mod's answers to how they would handle different scenarios and what not, and since they would be public record (this part at least) then they would almost be held to that standard when an issue like the ones descirbed happen in the real life

Example: "How would you go about sharing information that is sensitive to the community?"

Answer: I would tell them everything I know that is 100% true, and if I don't know the full answer then I will tell them that I don't currently know and that I'll will work to find out the answer

But then if this happens here on sythe and they just delete posts or give false information, people can be like "Yo, dude, you said you would handle shit like this. Handle it like you said you would"

Would be an indicator of where the mod's persona is heading

Same stance as Realist, Was a poor poll setup tbh, I also voted no because u didn't describe what u meant is "only part of it" letting people comment? Only see them? I didn't understand what u meant by that option so I just voted no, u also had plenty of room to write an actual explanation in the poll option so I don't know why u didn't.

 

The second option means literally anything that is not everything but voting or what we have now. It is not supposed to be specific and I'm sorry if that was not clear. It is supposed to get a sense of what people are thinking so I know if it is worth even trying to figure out specifics or to not even bother because people like what we have now. I threw it up because so many people seemed to like what we have now.

Ryan's recommendation fits under the middle category.

we are saying that the poll option #2 should be 'let the applicant decide' meaning the applicant can decide to have it hidden altogether and not just a 'part' of it as option 2 states

I can not change the poll options or else I would have. There is a lot more than just "applicant's discretion" and I was trying to capture everything. I'm sorry I failed at that. Let me ask a mod.

 

Don't get so invested in the specifics of the poll, I'm fairly sure this is more-so to gauge community opinion than a definitive way of choosing what will happen with applications.

OT:

I don't really see a benefit to making applications public. The community isn't missing out on anything since their say means absolutely nothing when it comes to staff, really the only people who need to see the application are those who are voting on the polls. Since the voting system is identical to how staff were chosen prior to the opening of applications, I just don't really see the point in letting the community read failed / successful apps. Upper staff will know who said what in their applications, so to touch on the point @Shall Skill made, will be able to keep staff accountable to their word.

I would imagine people would not be as apt to be vulnerable on their applications (overall resulting in lower quality responses) knowing that people will be able to read everything they write down. Splitting the application up into two different portions is just complicating matters for the sake of transparency and I personally don't think it's worth it.

 

Tbh I would like to see them visible to community members but not able to be commented on in my ideal scenario.

If this was polled specifically I would of voted yes vs no.


The visible aspect allows community members to monitor the staff & applications and what their saying, however it avoids all the ass kissing,flaming and other shit that would go on if everyone could comment.

Maybe information that is put within a spoiler tag is hidden from public on applications? This way if somebody wants to provide sensitive information they can do it with a spoiler tag. I support partial information being visible and I feel it should be up to the poster to determine what they don't want the public to see, whether its the whole application or only a part of it.

Yes. It was to gauge whether it was worth putting the effort in to figure out a potential change or not. Poll was just so I could know if I should bother trying to go through all the suggestions or just close it all down since everyone is already content with what we have now.

 

I cannot support this being public, just leave them private and move onward.

 

Polls should have two options: 'Yes' and 'No', respectively.

The content related to the question proposed in the poll should be clearly outlined within the original post itself.

 

Since @Dave is a bro and half of people don't seem to care let's revisit this in 3 months or so after we see if this experiment works or not.
