Let's get rid of PR

Support. I stepped down from the PR team due to the fact that nothing was ever implemented/followed up with.

I suggested getting a PR YouTube channel up and running and ended up waiting weeks + to find out that we already had one and alas months later and still no access.

Also the market sticky thread revamp is still sitting at the bottom of the suggestions forum.


I also made graphics for promoting social media which no one ever kept up with/posted on.




If anything just combine the PR + cdt and be done with it lmao

I'm still not even sure what the PR team does. My first guess was that it was some sort of marketing team, aka staff of the website, which might handle advertising or public relations. So yeah, why is it called PR if it is event based? Rename it something about events because PR implies they are paid staff (are they?). Also, even changing it to event related titles still seems like a title of authority.

 

Keep CDT and remove/merge PR responsibilities. Dunno why there's even a PR rank. No one in their right mind would associate their personal accounts to insta, FB pages etc. Maybe some sort of series on youtube could work, but then again 0 progress so far.

Edit: Literally, the only PR thing that has gained any attention is from a PR member scamquitting lol.

PR pretty much rides on CDT's back. I feel PR is not needed if anything its bringing a bad rep to the site now that one of the managers scam quit. CDT actually contributes to sythe in a huge way keeping up user activity but no PR is needed to be honest the members handle that themselves with the multiple markets and large companies that invest and utilize sythe.

 

As a previous leader I saw the statistics of the media accounts and they were never worth the effort.

I feel like since Bolt has been leading it, PR has done quite well.

Most users don't want to associate their irl details to Sythe so people won't subscribe or pay attention to the social medias.

Fair point, but there's nothing you can do about that. Even goldshops require people to provide their IDs (or used to) when buying via PayPal, so there's no going around that.

• Most people join to gain trust and hardly contribute unless you twist their arm.

• Some use it as a stepping stone to their scam-quit. Look at Bolt for example, acted like he had good intentions for PR and then used the rank to further his malicious intent. There's been others as well.

Weak excuse in my opinion, nobody would've agreed with this if it wasn't for Bolt scamming now. Only happened twice so far though, if we're gonna get rid of this, we might aswell get rid of the staff team.

Thing is, there has never been a clear, visible sight on what the PR actually does. I'm still clueless right now lol. As mentioned by other users and normal run-of-the-mill consumer users like myself, the PR team is at best an absent, mysterious entity that:

1) Gives loads of newcomers/normal-active users the horrible mis-impression that PR team members are staff members. If anything there should be a suggestion to update the rank to state(non-staff) but thats for another discussion.

2) Honestly does very little either due to the nature of Sythe as a blackmarket, horrendous redtape and shit participation on the PR team's part, or both.

3) Duties and roles already sort of overlap with the CDT, which you also agreed to.

Bolt drama has no place in this discussion tbh(other 'significant' members like Vlad, Ex have also scammed in the past) so I see no point in bringing it up here.

As unfortunate as the circumstances have been surrounding the ways that @Bolt gained trust I don't think removing PR is the correct course of action. I don't think it's fair to penalize an entire team of people due to the actions of one person. I know from personal experience that the PR members are just as invested in this community as any CDT member and they should be given a chance to prove their value to Sythe as a team. Most of the members are recently promoted and the team was already making decent progress and showing good coordination in their efforts to attract more users to Sythe.

You can consider it like this: PR is there to bring new people in, CDT is there to keep the people entertained.

I think this is also a good argument against people wanting to merge the teams, they both have much different objectives and ideally should work together with the PR team promoting quality CDT events to bring users to Sythe and hopefully encourage them to stay.

Further, PR is operating without a budget which makes things like social media promotion a little more difficult than just paying for a promoted post. But I do firmly believe that they were on the right track before @Bolt decided to scamquit and I also believe that they have what it takes to continue the good progress that they've made up until today.

It wasn’t just Bolt.

What progress did they make? Social media’s are still dead and useless. Which is the fundamental flaw of PR, the point is to use social media’s to bring traffic, but no one wants to touch a Sythe social media with their real name. And again, regardless of any “progress” you think Bolt made, he used his position to scamquit so he was a net loss to the team.

I’ve seen what the team can do, what it has done, and it’s net outcome is that it’s a detriment to Sythe. You can speculate it’s value from the outside all you want, but having been in the accounts and seen it’s actual value I know it’s not worth having the team.

No one's arguing here that Bolt's the biggest reason to disband/merge PR team LMAO. Stop cherrypicking your arguments. The main points of the argument made here in favour of disbanding hardly touched on scamquitting.

The fact of the matter remains that CDT does more for outreach and bringing in new people than PR team ever did(how damn ironic). And CDT does stand for Community DEVELOPMENT team which does translate to developing AKA growing Sythe's community, so I see no reason why PR can't be scrapped and merged with CDT.

Why maintain a separate, small, inactive(debatable) team of people with overlapping interests with the CDT?
