Is this REALLY considered Rape?

By definition, no, it isn't

But you go into the courtroom and show the judge that, he'll laugh and slap the prison sentence on you like it's nothing. It is ILLEGAL to have sex with someone whom is underage, and, for lack of a better word, they call it rape. Simple as that.

wow dude
u can explain everything lmao

props

I actually think it is rape, because its technically rape, i guess, but i definitely think the punishment should have been way less harsh

Um uh...10 years in prison is far to much...it should've just been a fine or something. Besides, who cares if they're young, they were happy about it. The law needs to stop acting like everything is their business. And besides, that's one year under 18, I'm sure she's mature enough.

yeah 10 years in jail is too much it should of been a fine or 1 year or something but 10 years thats to much

Depends, she propably was in to it, but parents found out or something.

She gave oral sex, He did not force her to do it. Pulse She never said anything about him raping Her.

Yes it is fair. The 17 year old male should have thought of the consequences before acting upon anything. It is his fault for having sex with a 15 year old, who is a minor. He knew the outcomes, and he could have dated or have a girlfriend the same age as him - to have sex with or whatever. This is considered as rape. More specifically, statutory rape. This is one of the 'crimes' that people can get high penalities for.

All states have an "age of consent," or an age at which a person can legally consent to sexual activity and can then no longer be a victim of statutory rape. Some states also have laws that look at the age difference between the two people as well as their individual ages. All states have laws that have restrictions on the relationship between the two people, changing the age of consent, or the penalty, for sexual relations between a person of authority, such as a teacher, assistant coach, or tutor. These laws change, and can vary depending on other circumstances.

To make things confusing, what if a minor and an adult were to wed? And they were having sex? Would that still be legal?
For example, Matthew Koso. He married a 14 year old girl. I believe he was 22 at the time.

For those people that think adult females having sex with underage males is discriminatory, because there used to be no law about it. Here's information to clear that up.

In the past, sex involving an adult female and an underage male was often ignored by the law, as many believed that this was not a traumatic or negative experience for teenage boys. However, in recent years, social perceptions have shifted, particularly when the adult female is in a position of responsibility, and there have now been a number of high profile cases (Mary Kay Letourneau, Debra Lafave, Tammy Imre, Pamela Rogers Turner, Pamela Smart) where adult females have been prosecuted for participating in sexual relationships with younger males. These cases mentioned have all involved adult female teachers and young teenage male students.

I believe this law exists to prevent adults taking advantage of minors. Some of the adults manipulate their 'younger' boy/girlfriends into having sex. Parents are very protective of their children, so if they have any evidence against their children's boy/girlfriends, they will file a lawsuit. It is also a good way to make money for them too...I suppose. Also, one of the main reason is most teenage girls gets abortion, and parents don't really appreciate that. It does not matter if the minor individual who the adult had sex with enjoyed it or not, it is still considered as statutory rape. Most people define 'rape' as 'forcing someone to have sex with you'. There are other definitions of rape, depending on what type it is.

Are you forgetting that BOTH of them are minors? or did that just slip your mind?

In some regions of the world, 17 is considered as an adult.
Even though if they are both minors, if it involves an underage girl compared to the guy, it is still statutory rape.
It's hard to fight the law, the law is always against you...so better take the consequences that are offered than to take it to court, because it'll just get worse.

It does not depend. Whether she gave a complete written form of consent or didn't give any consent, it is still rape. Trust me, my gf is 18, I'm not, I know.

you are a rapist?

lol and you cant answer hahahahahaha

no this is rape plain and simple if not its illegal sex

And that's when you take it to supreme court and change the law.

Yes but STATUATORY rape is different and it is true... If you have sex with an underage person and they tell their parents or something you can get screwed over for it... Whether they consent or not...

In the US the consenting age varies from state to state. Where I live if you're under 16 you can't consent at all, if you're over 16 you can consent with anyone over 16.

I am a Catholic with high morals, and personally, I belive the kids should be fined, both the underage kid and the 17 year old. This will teach them that it is not ok to have sex as if it is as common as brushing your teeth. It will screw with their lives later on, and that is too much of a burden to put on most 18 and under age kids. I know that many kids lose their virginity at age like 13 or 14, and that is really sad to me.

1) Belive it or not, you can wait!
2) It's not technically legal
3) Heard of chastity?
4) Once you have sex with someone it really changes the wya you act towards one another, just friends don't have sex, and if they do, it really does change the realationship.

Now, to you readers who are rading this and disagree with me, so be it, but this is true to most people, and it is something good to live by. :)

1. You can but if proper measures are taken such as birth control, there is no need.
2. Yes it is, depending on the country.
3. Why does everyone need to uphold the morals of a specific religion?
4. No it doesn't, when you lose your virginity, you'll realize that it is just a word, and really isn't much more.
