    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Yeah definitely, i think where it is done is a huge factor, a lot of banksy's work, is put in really ironic/fitting places for that particular piece. This is half of what makes his art so great IMO

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Tags= Pure vandalism, they're just plain ugly with no meaning.

The following however, is pure art!

About 2 weeks ago this got noticed by the Belgian media. An unknown guy made this on the sidewall of a house in a very busy street in the heart of Brussels.

It's about a year old apparently. I still wonder how he got away with this without being noticed on such a busy street. How the hell do you make something like that on that particular spot o.0!?

It was probably stenciled, since those take 20-30 mins max for a bigger piece.

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

A woman round where I live had her house tagged by sprayers, it was my aunties friend, and she actually liked the art, and ended up paying them to spray some more stuff that she wanted.

haha that is so cool! I think if it happened to me, as long as it was actually good, not just some rubbish squiggle i'd probably be the same, Some graffiti makes a building really interesting and fun to look at!

Graffiti is 100% vandalism. Talent plays no role in it being art. If you're painting something you're not supposed to it's still vandalism regardless if you make it look amazing/better.

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Graffiti is art when it took time and effort or has a good meaning behind it.

Some people call "i waz ere" in huge letters graffiti. Some of it looks awesome. Streets look better when they have graffiti on 'em than not. People just need to look outside the box and appreciate it.

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Graffiti is an art form. Going to places like those graffiti galleries or whatever where you can buy a wall your allowed to spray is really impressive.
Personally I do see the stuff put on random walls and objects as vandalism. Even if it's good, they should be putting their talent to better uses.

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Depending on the level of artistic skill, it can either be art or it can be ugly.

Whether it's artistically incredible, or if it's an ugly ass tag, it's all vandalism since vandalism = "defacing property that doesn't belong to you".

so the answer is it's both if the artist is skilled, or it's just vandalism if he/she's not skilled.

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Well, it depends on the circumstances. If you're vandalizing, it's stupid and you should learn to respect other people's property. If it's your property, I suppose you can consider it art, even though most niggers with a spray can do the same damn thing.

Generally speaking, it's a stupid thing to waste time on since you will get nowhere except possibly jail or a courtroom.

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Yeah, although i personally do like graffiti art, i understand this opinion. When i think about graffiti, i think of the bits that i like, but when you are sitting on the train and you actually look out the window and there is a mile long stretch of unreadable squiggles...I can understand why people don't like it, and if someone did THAT on my property i would hate it. I suppose its what you define as graffiti art and what you define as rubbish

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

If someone is tagging gang tags and things of a devious nature then I would say that is pure vandalism with no art. If someone is doing the paste ups and the intricate paints I believe it is vandalism with art. Legally.

I love graffiti and one of my favorite tagger is Psalms and the other is probably Shepard Fairy.

Shepard fairey's art has become legendary recently, it's fair to say his going to be rolling in the money, but he deserves it, his art is so memorable, and he has managed to drill it into people so much, so many people know of his work, without even knowing it's his!

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

It depends on where it's done, if it's done on a canvis, or someones walls in their own house or something on their own property that they own it's art.

If it's anywhere else it's art, but it's vandalism.

If you are going to do something like that, put it on a canvis and let people see, the stuff some people can do with a few cans of spray paint is just simply AMAZING.

Andre The Giant has a posse made him so famous almost over night really. No one knew who he was and then all of a sudden you see OBEY all over the place.
