Graffiti... Vandalism or art?

I don't think you've read the posts at all

I read the first page, then decided to let my opinion be known.

Where I live, there is no amazing graffiti that took days to finish. There are just obscene words spray painted with a can. Though some shops have there outside walls painted, which look beautiful. Thats the reason I posted what I did.

Il keep my response simple. Its vandalism when its on the side of a shop and its art when its on a purposly built wall inside a art gallery.

I disagree

nah your wrong i think.

Graffiti is defiantly art, takes a lot of talent to do.
People who do it shouldn't do it on other peoples property though.
I'm from B.C. & Whenever a train goes by theres graffiti all over it.
I find it fascinating.

I get what you mean, there's like a story behind every piece.

Graffiiti is 100% art but if you are intentionally trying to vandalize something then... its vandalism.

So what I think is that it can be both.

Depends who's done it. There are some famous people who do graffiti and shop keepers pay them to graffiti the front of there shop to make it look attractive.

Gloucester has some amazing graffiti in the square around the fountains..

Gloucester.. haven't seen any there. Been down there quite a lot too.

Lol I still need to buy more paint and caps though...
I'm near vancouver and there is only one graffiti shop I know of and you need to be an adult to buy there... =(

I think it's a little bit of both. The person doing the graffiti is risking getting arrested for vandalism, so how could it not be considered vandalism. I love seeing good graffiti roll by on trains, and like CrazeD said I find it fascinating. I've drawn tags on paper, then attempted to do them under bridges, then failed horribly, so I respect it as an art.
