Graffiti, art or not?

Do you guys think graffiti is art or not? I see articles about graffiti in the newspaper all the time... I catch the train to school every morning with my eyes peeled to the windows staring at the murals and stompers and the bombing.

Personally i believe it is art, as the artist ( or vandal some may say ) is expressing themselves in a way which can be unique, and when pulled off correctly, truly beautiful. I write graffiti but i want to see what your views are on it. Thanks guys.

 

I do pieces and stencils myself. Never got into tagging... I also do some murals around the gold coast for the council and stuff... Graffiti CAN be an art form. It can also be a horrible abomination too society.

p.s. Ironlak FTW i got 18 cans in my bedroom at the moment, the gold coast butterbeats had an opening sale, 3$ a can =D

Well, I think it's art work. If you look closely you can see some messages they send. They express themselves by Graffiti. As for those "real art" Do the same but on paper.

not to make it nice, if you want it nice, you do need some sort of skill.

nothing point, people call blank canvases made by famous people modern art, which I do not think is art, but it is.

 

It can be art, but most of the time its shit. writting your name isnt art

 

Yeah that's true, writing your name isn't art, but some of the drawing they make is. For example, when someone dies, and they make a picture of them. Sexy art work.

Graffiti is an art form, every graffiti artist in one way or another is expressing something through the work, which makes it art.

Who ever think Graffiti is not a art is lame. I mean look on how they tag. It's almost the same thing as a real artiest.
