The main reason is donations have slowed down so much that maintaining the donation system is not worth it...

Hopefully in the future we will re-open them but for now we're going to stop accepting new donations.

We apologize for any inconvenience and if anything changes we'll be sure to let you all know.

Thanks to those who have donated and supported us and to those who still want to donate, hopefully you'll have a chance in the near future.

What? Why? What does the site have to lose by keeping it up?

I don't see any reason why donating shouldn't be available. If its ever available again, at least make paypal an option and maybe you'll get more donations.

I like many others want to donate. Problem is I live in Australia and my only method is paypal. If only people couldn't refund. >_<

You could accept donations now in Paypal, as GIFTS, there's no way to charge back that :D

Paypal is claim-able. Before, they made the donate ny Paypal option available, they were charged back several times. It's too much of a hassle.

But I do agree with the gift option The Black Tux suggested.

Make a gift button. Make one person in charge of donations (such as yourself) and problem solved! Use the new gift system. Make a donation button and it's free :p

I'm sure there's a way to get around this gift idea(i.e call up Paypal and say it was a mistake).

I only ever got charged back once, where i didn't get the money back. Obviously people are more scared of the risk than there is actually the risk of losing the money. My paypal was investigated twice, and one time i got the money back and the second time is happening right now.

Matthew, the reason you guys are not making money off donations is because i was shut down >.>. Still don't see the reason, but whatever.

You could also add a requirement for donating via paypal...such as 100+ posts.

Or you could just do what i did, with no donation amounts over 25$. That way if you do get charged back, its not for 300$

To Sythe, or whoever manages donations:

This is retarded. The donation section was just a few pages in a folder like http://sythe.org/donate/ or something.

How is that hard to maintain? It doesn't cost you anything, as it uses the same domain and host. It hardly ever has to be updated. Even if you only got a donation once a year, it's a donation and you didn't have to do anything to get it. Taking this away is just making you get less money.

I'm confuzzled about why this had been done.
