If I scammed someone, and got banned, I wouldn't of got unbanned, I reckon Finn just got out by favouritism.

    Do not permanent ban scammers.

Scamming someone's hard earned items, money ETC, with no remorse or care for the victim is inhuman, and should be treated with the same respect. Scamming isn't a disease, it's a weakness and they're fully aware of what they're doing as they do it. No matter how much they needed what was scammed, they should have known right from wrong. Everyone make's mistakes, but not all mistake's are recoverable.

So I'm going to say no support, they should remain perm banned. Rather the trade was for 0.01¢, or for a million dollars a scam is a scam.

I'd also like to throw in there, that scamming is a decision that a person makes, with knowing Sythe's rules. Meaning they know they'll be permed and are okay with it. That being said if they chose to evade or ddos Sythe, they're diffidently not needed here.

    Do not permanent ban scammers.

This is the real world. And the punishment is boycott / banishment from this private property, not imprisonment.

The fundamental principle of trade is that the trade will be honest. If you cannot trade here honestly, then you will not trade here at all. Very simple application of a very simple principle.

I don't think anyone would join a community that openly tolerated scamming. And unlike the real world, a lot of these trades are valued at $20 or less

Wouldn't you think if somebody scammed $5 that they would scam $500?

If they let scammers roam around here I'd be one of the first to leave.

I just cannot fathom why people cannot trade here with honesty and be trustworthy. Also why some view deception as an easier way to get to the top....

    Do not permanent ban scammers.

Preventing their ability to trade does not require them being banished from the site. All it does is result in them not posting, which they generally find other means of scamming...

IMO scammers should be IP banned and not be able to view the forums. No matter how big an offence, a scam is a scam.

    Do not permanent ban scammers.

Giving them a second chance allows them to have a chance to come back, with no way of scamming.

Then don't trade with them. Scammers who are unbanned, would be KNOWN. We wouldn't just let them come back. Let them come back with a market ban and a new rank that says "DO NOT TRADE. KNOWN SCAMMER".

    Look above.

    So banning them accomplishes what?

If you were permed from Sythe, with no chance of returning, you would not have any difficulty jumping to evading or attacking the site.

Scamming isn't that terrible of a crime?

You basically said exactly what we are thinking. You scam, you can not trade here. That doesn't mean they don't deserve a chance to come back to the community to contribute. Even though they have scammed, doesn't mean that after 6months to a year that they can't change and come back and be amazing members for the community.

What system should be used to allow these people back? At the moment, I am unsure. It will take work, but it could be done effectively so that it turns out well for everyone.

We aren't openly tolerating scamming. That would mean we wouldn't ban them at all. Read the whole thread. Or this post.

I've been asked to MM $1200 trades without a single vouch. Thats more dangerous than someone who scammed 5 bucks once.

And why do you believe scamming is so terrible?

We wouldn't give them a chance to scam after they returned.

I disagree. If you scam, you scammed. No matter how big or small the trade was, you still ripped somebody off.

You don't deserve to be a part of this great community if you're a scammer, simple as that.

Why? Yes, you scammed someone. That doesn't mean that you can't change and make amends. We aren't saying, let every scammer back. We're saying let some back. Some that show, with reasonable confidence that they have changed. A policy for people, who, would be denied a high pardon, but still want to get a second chance.

I do not agree. If a robber robbed your house but said "oh im clean now" a week later, would you let him into your house? NO lol. Just like if someone scammed my money that I had to work to get (which has happened), I wouldn't want them anywhere near these forums, for the welfare of everyone. Just my oppinion

No, I completely disagree. I'm not arguing the fact that people change, I'm well aware that they do. The fact is they fucked up, and took advantage of someone. It's clearly stated that if caught scamming, it's a permanent ban. They knew what the risks were, and they still decided to do it.
