After shredderbeam asked for proof about God, a few weeks ago, I decided to look for stuff.. Then ended up hearing this like I will post below...

Its a conversation between a Professor and a Student about God....

Prof: You believe in God?
Student: Absolutely, sir.

Prof: Is God good?
Student: Sure.

Prof: Is God all-powerful?
Student: Yes.

Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn't. How is this God good then? Hmm?
Student is silent.

Prof: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fellow. Is God good?
Student: Yes.

Prof: Is Satan good?
Student: No.

Prof: Where does Satan come from?
Student: From...God...

Prof: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student: Yes.

Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make everything. Correct?
Student: Yes.

Prof: So who created evil?
Student does not answer.

Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don't they?
Student: Yes, sir.

Prof: So, who created them?
Student has no answer.

Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son...Have you ever seen God?
Student: No, sir.

Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?
Student: No, sir.

Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?
Student: No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.

Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student: Yes.

Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student: Nothing. I only have my faith.

Prof: Yes Faith. And that is the problem science has.

Now the student asked "Can I ask something to you Professor?"

Student: Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Prof: Yes.

Student: And is there such a thing as cold?
Prof: Yes.

Student: No sir. There isn't.
(The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)

Student: Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don't have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it. (There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)

Student: What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?

Student: You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light...But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn't it? In reality, darkness isn't. If it were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?
Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?

Student: Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?

Student: Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student: Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument is going.)

Student: Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? then you are not a scientist, but a preacher?

(The class is in uproar.)

Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain?
(The class breaks out into laughter.)

Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

(The room is silent. The professor stares at the student, his face unfathomable.)

Prof: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.
Student: That is it sir... The link between man & god is FAITH. That is all that keeps things moving & alive.

I'm not sure what I expect to see posted back from this.. Just wanted to see what everyone thought..

1. Freewill lead satan into his doings
2. Where did you find this?
3. This doesn't 100% prove God or doesn't prove God, it just shows flaws in ways we evaluate things as truth or false.

About two weeks after shredderbeam had posted that he would give 5000 dollars to the person to prove that God was real, I went to church the preacher quoted this. So I just looked it up using Google to post it here.

And yes, I know it doesn't prove that God exists or that he doesn't exist, it proves to me that science and religion both have flaws.

Meh, you can look at it as you wish.

That's not proof of God. That's proof of a student owning a professor.

The student is wrong, cold is referred to anything past the freezing temperature. Yes some things take longer to freeze than others but we can still get colder than absolute zero we just have not came up with the correct reactions to achieve this thus far. Also even if there wasn't a temperature past absolute zero [ or what ever temperature was stated in the story] it just means that said item which hits it's absolute zero temperature point at that degree doesn't have a cold temperature but everything else does.

As for there is a such thing as darkness it is impossible to cast light over everything. Darkness is void of light there for you can't possibly make it darker only lighter but at the same time this also means there is NO light just as the above there is NO heat.

No, he is correct. Cold is the absense of heat. Cold cannot be measured because it is the absense of heat. The complete absence of heat is known as absolute zero. It's physically impossible to get any colder than that.
And yes, there is light. Light can be measured. Darkness cannot be measured since it is only the absense of light.

Your still wrong...The point wasn't that you cant get past absolute zero the point was that cold is nothing more then an appointed word for the absence of heat. We can measure heat, but cold is nothing more then the absence of heat, Cold is also nothing more then an opinion.

For the Light thing your still off. Like you said yourself "Darkness is void of light there for you can't possibly make it darker only lighter" that's because there is no such thing as darkness, its just another word appointed to the absence of light.

Also a side note to this. No one ever said that this proves god. It simply proves that faith is really the determining factor in your belief whether it be in science alone or with religion. There honestly isn't one good way to prove god is real, but also there isn't one indefinite way to prove that science is right in saying god doesn't exist. You cannot prove it in either way. It comes down to a personal decision like God himself said. He's not going to force you to believe, he is merely going to show himself through the works of people that being evidence provides faith to people. Evidence is not a conclusion it is just that evidence. Traces of proof leading you in a direction but not giving an answer where again faith comes into place.

Ok first let me start with the subject of cold. Lets take water for example it gets hotter it turns into steam. it gets cold it turns into ice, after it turns into ice anything lower than that temperature is then cold not less warmth. It works for all matter like this and I am sure in the future we will find a material that can with stand more then what our current absolute zero is. I mean seriously we haven't even figured everything out on earth yet let alone the rest of the universe narrow mindedness is what holds the whole world back for progressing if you find something there is always a chance to find something better. Hell we use to think the earth was flat and now we know it's not.

Next darkness, Who is to say that you can't measure it? just because there is very little to measure ie dark or not dark it is still a measurement regardless of how you figure it. Darkness technically it can be measured as the way we suspect a black hole works, the absence of light is diminished by the pressure from the molecules around which is why we believe black holes are destructive etc. if that statement is true we can then measure darkness by how much pressure is present when darkness is present.

Your still wrong...The point wasn't that you cant get past absolute zero the point was that cold is nothing more then an appointed word for the absence of heat. We can measure heat, but cold is nothing more then the absence of heat, Cold is also nothing more then an opinion.

Here we go...more Christian propaganda...

Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student: Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

Student: Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? then you are not a scientist, but a preacher?

Fail. Evolution can be observed indirectly.

That is not what science says, at all.

Science finds that every single human being that has been tested, either by a brain scan or by brain surgery, is in possession of a brain. Humans without their brains are unable to function, and humans with damage to their brain have damaged functions. It is thus reasonable to assume that the function of the body is entirely dependent upon the possession of a brain, to the extent that if we find a human who is able to function, we almost certainly know that they have a working brain. If questions arise, the human can be called in for a MRI.

(The room is silent. The professor stares at the student, his face unfathomable.)

Prof: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.

What the hell? What kind of answer is that?

It does not have to be taken on faith, at all. Everything in a scientific perspective can be taken on logic and evidence. Everything.

Anyway, yes, I'll still pay $5,000 for you to prove the existence of a God (not post something about faith, actually prove it).

To clarify things, the OP is completely correct - cold is merely the absence of heat, and darkness the absence of light.

That doesn't prove that God exists, though, it just gives an alternative explanation of evil.

How can that be true though? You can easily put lets say water and gasoline the gasoline is obviously going to take longer to hit it's core temperature in which all it's molecules stop moving. there fore the water once frozen would be colder than the gasoline as it is below its core temperature first correct? If not please elaborate I am not a scientific genius and such but that honestly seems like the logical answer from my scientific view.

and as for the darkness thing why can't you determine darkness by the pressure it gives? we on earth can't tell what complete darkness is because our body gives off small portions of light from the body temperature and other things right? So how would we be able to judge if something can be measured by darkness? the way I see it you can't judge it anymore than you can judge heat absolute darkness is made by stooping all heat\friction\movement by it's own force. If enough force is made it would disperse the energy from the object out in which it would make an incredible light. in this case it would mean that light is not infinite on it's brightness and would mean that you can measure the darkness from when it stops all molecular movement to where the energy disperses.

btw I am sorry for the horrible points I am trying to make I'm quite tired and can't thank all that well but hopefully you will understand and possibly give me some answers because I am quite confused.

Basically, heat is the rapid motion of tiny particles. The more they move, the hotter an object is, and the less they move, the colder an object is.

If one has a sample of gasoline and a sample of water, and none of the particles are moving, then they are both at the same temperature. If the gasoline takes longer to lose all of its heat, that is probably because of its chemical ability to retain heat.

Darkness doesn't have any pressure because darkness is the absence of light.

Light has nothing to do with molecular vibrations, but rather the emission of photons. When a room is lit up by a lamp, it is flooded with particles of light which bounce off various objects and into your eyes. When the lamp goes out, there are no particles of light bouncing off objects, and thus you cannot see.

Yes, I understand that but can't it be measured beings lets say item A's molecular state completely stops at -50 degree's and item B's completely stops at -80 degree's wouldn't that be a measurement in which you can associate with cold?

Turning a lamp off though does not make absolute darkness you can put your hand up to your face and still see it as well as the shadowing of other objects to achieve absolute darkness you must either put enough pressure on a area to which nothing moves or freeze an area to where nothing moves all the way down to the atoms and such.

Anyways I guess I can accept the way you're thinking about the cold thing I mean it makes sense but at the same time I think that my way of thinking makes sense as well. the darkness thing on the other hand I still don't really agree with. But something else I would like to know why does something have to have a measurement to exist? as long as logically it's there and can be proved as we know it gets dark and it gets cold even though there is only one frame there even if you can't measure it, it still exists.

Oh, no, there is always some sort of motion unless it's at absolute zero.

When you turn off a lamp, there is still trace amounts of light from various sources (other lights, stars, moon, etc.). If all sources of light are removed, it would be completely dark.

Cold and pressure do not affect light.

You can still think of darkness as a "thing" if it makes it easier to discuss.
