Afraid of Death?

I'm not afraid of death, i'm afraid of failing to meet my goals in life; and being only 18 I have not achieved them.

 

I am afraid of death when it comes to how i will die. If i knew i would die peacefully death would not scare me, but i could die from a slow and painful disease or accident such as a car accident.

I believe pain can be ignored when there is a will to live.

If you fear dying slow and painful, do not live your life so that your death is in vain.

 

Know what's easy? Saying you're not afraid of death on the internet. Being unafraid of death is weird, especially at your guys' ages, and I guarantee if you were placed in near death peril you would be scared shitless. I know I have. I'm not afraid to admit I'm afraid of death.

 

I'm very afraid of what will happen after death, so yes, very.

 

Death is truthfully the only thing I fear, sure insects freak me out, but not as much as death does. Just thinking about it gives me shivers down my spine. Death gives me the excuse to "live for today" though.

I am afraid of death, in the sense that I do not understand what happens afterwards. I have no idea what happens when you die, obviously no one can be 100% sure. I would be frightened of the unknown.

 

Why should anyone be? It's not scary to die... I am, however, scared of how I will die. No one wants a slow, painful death.

I was in the frame of mind a few weeks ago where I was on the brink of committing suicide. I talked myself out of my fear of death a long time ago. It's really not that hard if you just stop thinking about everything.

 

I sometimes lay in bed at night and I think about it and it makes me feel sick. So then I have to think about something different, something happy to make it go away.

 

I don't really have a "fear" of anything, why just be scared of possibilities? Having Anxiety in certain situations is on the other hand something that is uncontrollable.

I agree with what people are saying about caring about the method of death. I however don't understand why you would fear it instead of just preferring it won't happen, especially considering the probability of it actually occuring (IE torture).

I'm sure people that have "died" then been brought back have some knowledge of what it was like.

 

What about all those movies where people go to Heaven, complete a task and then are sent back to Earth with no recollection of it ever happening (memory wipe)?

You could also relate it to sleeping as I do in my opinion of life after death. If I asked you what sleeping was like (assuming you didn't recall any dreams on this paticular night) you couldn't really give me an answer.

 

True, but we don't really know, so unless you've died and been revived, we can't tell
