Add to donor FAQ about direct donations

how hard would it be to do both just to ensure maximum benefit to sythe?

 

What happens right now is if the user can donate themselves after they reach the requirements the PayPal option shows up.

If they can't the PayPal option does not show at all.


Maybe if the PayPal option was there the whole time and it shows the requirements it would be more helpful there. As superfluous noted it is posted elsewhere

The only place that I can found with a google search easily is here: http://www.sythe.org/14357831-post17.html. That's not much visibility for donating, imo.

I would like to see it added to both, but if there could only be one option, i would definitely prefer it over in the userpanel rather than PM.

 

Ah, sorry. I missed that post, you're right it is in there. I would still like to see it in the userpanel FAQ though where usually the donation actually takes place. I think it's more likely the user would read the userpanel FAQ about direct donations than the full sythe FAQ.

Roary said it perfectly to those whom do not agree, i'm not suggesting that the donation system be changed or the requirements be changed. I'm asking for more visibility on how to donate directly.

I support this. When I joined, I had given a quick read-through of all the FAQ, but when I was ready to donate a while later, I had no idea that this was even a thing. It might not directly help the bond holders, but I think in some ways the added transparency could encourage donating simply because more people are aware that another option is available

 

Support. I found out about direct donation via word of mouth. I was pretty settled on not donating anymore until I found out about it.

 

Support. I got ripped off so hard and ended up donating like $200 worth of 07 for $100 donator.

I'd support a change whereas it is made clearer so that people know their options. As for other suggestions made, you should probably create a new thread suggesting what you did.

You didn't get 'ripped off'. Bond holders are meant to profit off of what they are doing. It was your choice to donate, no one elses. If you were unsure about your options, you could've asked almost anyone(anyone who've donated in the past, $50 or more).

I vote for the thread to be closed as it stands clear this really doesn't need any support to be integrated. Just have an administrator implement this into our current FAQ's.

 

This is a very bad idea. When people notice the direct PayPal option nobody will use bond holders for $25+ donations anymore. More direct donations will cause more trouble on their PayPal account and that's not beneficial for Sythe. Just keep it the way it is right now.

I agree with you somewhat, but leaving it ambiguous for that sake is selfish and greedy.

People are perfectly fine doing what they're currently doing. The problem is that the outlining of available options isn't as clear as it should be. Sythe.org has new people registering continuously in a never ending cycle, and most of these people eventually decide to become donators(or supporters, whatever you want to call it), and they can only do this by using a bond holder. But as they go further into it, they'll also eventually learn that you can do direct payments afterwards.

If you feel nothing needs to be changed as it is, you should widen your horizons, there are other ways of profiting other than being a bond holder. As for Sythe's PayPal; Sythe(Richard) runs a website, with thousands, if not even hundreds of thousands of registered users. I'm pretty sure he knows how to handle a PayPal account.

With this being said, I'm yet again requesting for the thread to be closed, and automatically approved. Users who are unaware will make choices that aren't in their favor. Make them aware, and maybe they'll donate more(now that they can afford it, without the ridiculous fees bond holder's have) now that all the options are clear.

 

I'm not retarded I know exactly what the so called problem is. I'm not against this suggestion because of profits. I don't make shit doing this and I've got a fulltime job. Matthew is not retarded either. He didn't unintentionally hide the direct paypal option for newcomers. There's a reasoning behind it. Of course sythe and matthew know how to handle a paypal account. That's why they designed the user center the way it is right now.

 

Why is that? Was "People not knowing about direct donations" one of the factors while you guys were drafting the requirements?
