I'm sure this issue has been brought up before, but more personal feedback on the same topic should signify a greater need for awareness.
The GD forum needs urgent attention.

I don't have any qualms about the way the Sythe staff does its job- but the GD section needs to be nuked.. Theres more three-letter-random responses than the regular members can deal with (reports). The amount of spam in the GD compared to the other forums is vastly disproportionate to say the least, especially for a forum that's supposed to maintain a higher standard of discussion in the first place..

To put it bluntly, I'd like to see some house-cleaning (I'm sure I'm not the only one), restore the GD to its former glory.

Any creative solutions are welcome. Staff response?

Oh, indeed. It's one of my favorite forums, and I'm having to fight to keep spam off my sticky. Unfortunately, the posts I report aren't generally being infracted, or warned.

Several people have suggested doing-away with post-count. It's been denied every time - though, personally, I think the benefits outweigh the costs.

Currently, the nature of this forum is to spam, get posts, and scam. Some people are averaging 3 posts per minute, or over 100 posts per day, just so they look better to traders. Which translates to a lot of threads full of thoughtless crap.

The alternative solution - harsher spam enforcement - can be difficult. It's often a matter of opinion whether something is spam or not; ton one person, a short response may be an adequate, amusing, contribution to the topic. To others, it's just annoying. Either way, warnings and infractions aren't going to deter most of the spammers...and constantly modding each and every topic is a lot of effort for no results.

With a forum of this nature, I'm not convinced there can be a solution.

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more with your statements.

It urks me to find a two-day 'old' active member with 150+ posts.. -.-

However, though it may seem unsolvable, the mission of the staff is to solve problems and keep the site running smoothly. I have faith that they will decide on a course of action that best suits the community.

Perhaps ranks should not be given out at post count numbers, but rather at length you have been with sythe.

It greatly disapoints me as well to see people posting threads about "yay me!!11! I got 100 posts!!1"

"I'll be sure to post another thread at 150 posts!!!1!!"

What I could imagine happening, is that there is a limit to how many posts per day someone may recieve credit for. So, lets say the number is 10, if you post 10 or more posts/ threads in a day, your post count will have only increased by 10. If tomorrow you post only 4 times, your post count will go up by 4.

Basically, it does not limit people from posting, but also keeps it from having someone post 2500 times in a day and getting title of grand master.

Or... this might even be a better solution. You have three chances, or if we resort to runescape, we use the black mark system. For spamming in General Discussion, you recieve one black mark, for spamming in Something for all, you recieve 1.5 black marks. Unjust flame against a person could result in 3 black marks.

After you reach 10, you may not post anywhere but the spam forum, in which case, your post count does not increase.

Yeah, I agree. I hate when I see people who have 30-40 posts a day trying to MM, since their "trusted"
