Warriors would be beating the Celtics this bad as well, no doubt.I just think it's hard to simulate the Warriors with the trash out East. Like yeah the Cavs obviously are familiar with them, but they only play 2 times a year. I really hope the Cavs beat them because I can't stand the Warriors, but I think it's going to be a tall task. Sadly the Celtics (my team since I've been 5) are not near the ceiling or talent of the Warriors/Cavs (or even a healthy Spurs for that matter). The Cavs just stick Lebron on Thomas and it's game over basically. Don't really have that luxury versus the Warriors, especially now with Durant, just another headache for them to deal with. They could barely handle them without him. And Durant's probably going to go off in the Finals knowing that this will be his best chance in his career thus far to finally win a ring.
The Celtics are honestly just lucky/happy to be here. The Warriors would be beating them by these margins too I'm afraid.
I don't disagree the Cavs could definitely win this series, I just don't see it going 5 either way. The teams are too good and I don't trust NBA refs (yeah that's a little tin-foil hat conspiracy theorist I admit) but when you have had guys like Tim Donaghy in the league, it's not all conspiracy theories. I don't think the NBA is biased one way, but I do think they want to maximize their revenue and the easiest way to do that is to get long series. I think this Finals will save us from a very dry and predictable lead up to this moment.
I was a poor fan of the NBA this season and don't really understand how the Celtics made it to #1 seed (I know the East isn't on part with the West, but still) with their roster. IT is really all they have unless I'm missing something here haha.
It's a business with a revenue stream. Nearly 95% of companies will do things that please the shareholders, which in this case would be creating more games. So, to go along with you, I'm sure there is some persuasion, but nothing to the gravity that would reek its toxicity amongst players. Nonetheless, I wouldn't be surprised to hear anything regarding a professional sport attempting to boost revenue/profits.
