2016-2017 NBA Discussion Thread

Yup loving the 2 finals matchups this year in NHL and NBA. The start of both seem to have massive importance. I think it's really key for the Warriors + Predators to start well if they want to win this thing, especially the Predators.

But to keep this basketball in the basketball thread I have not been this excited for a finals since the Heat and Spurs rematch. This should be a gem. Need Kyrie to ball out. Can't believe back in 2010 I shot hoops with him casually before he ever laced up the sneakers for Duke. I never would have known I was in the presence of arguably the greatest Duke NBA player of all time.

Cavs are being disrespected by Vegas, I'm so tempted to bet on them

 

Im tempted to as well, with Cavs firing on all cylinders they can definitely hold their own with the Warriors (problem might be on defense as last finals it was easy for James to hide on Barnes when Cavs were on D. Now it'll probably be Love hiding on Green, and then James will have to guard Klay it seems like). But we saw with the Spurs game that Warriors are definitely not unbeatable

 

I think no Steve Kerr will hurt as well. People underestimate/undervalue him.

I have 100m 07 riding on this with my brother, for the Cavs to win (I get 150 if he loses the bet), so I really need them to right the ship here. If they go down 0-2 they're fked I feel like. They're not gonna hold serve perfectly at home again.

That game seemed so lackluster imo. Cavs were slipping and sliding everywhere, looked exhausted, couldn't stop any penetration by KD or any other tbh.

I agree with you that if Cavs get down 0-2, it might be game over.

GSW got so many offensive rebounds and kickouts for 3 pointers, which is exactly what they should be doing in those situations- the Cavs need to focus on those. That's what stuck out like a sore thumb to me.

KD really adds a lot that allows them to score in bunches like crazy.

J.R. Smith nearly non-existent tonight, with the lackluster performance of Tristan Thompson. DERON WILLIAMS (the pg) IS ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. He needs to stop shooting- I really believe Delly (the pg from last year) was a really solid bench pg that is showing this year.

 

Shumpert is also taking a ridiculous amount of ISOs. May just be a confirmation bias but it seems like he's bricking all of those too

This is exactly what I expected. Durant going off hungry for his first win, the Warriors motivation being higher than it's ever been, and Klay Thompsons defense being suffocating. Not looking good, but the Cavs got blown out in Games 1 and 2 last year too.

 

I agree. They're trying to do too much. I like RJ, he goes in and does what is expected.

 

Kyrie could be better too, hes been good but he can shoot a helluva lot better than he has.

Hopefully the Cavs crowd lights a fire under their asses.

I've never been a fan. He's gotten progressively more annoying year after year in the league and the Warriors move didn't surprise me a lick. Lebron haters always cling to KD dick which is so funny because KD is an asshole, which is why they say they hate Lebron. AKA they just wanted to be cool and like the 2nd best player in the league. Then the Lebron haters get on him for not going to the podium last night, when KD is the biggest asshole to the media. The hypocrisy is unreal. I've never been a HUGE Lebron fan but I find it so funny when people hate on him whilst sucking KD cock. When KD literally does the same things in an even worse way.

I'm still hoping the Cavs can find a way into this thing.
