2015-2016 NHL Discussion Thread

Only 3 games for Marchand, wtf? I thought that deserved 5, from precedent (that's how many games he got last time). And Bruins fans wonder why we hate their team...

Winter classic without Marchand, Krejci, Price, Gallagher (?) will be a shadow of what it was advertised to be, lol. I feel as if the fire of the rivalry just won't be there anymore.

I mean, you can give the player the benefit of the doubt the 1st time, even the 2nd time. But Marchand is a repeat offender and an inherently dirty player. With a nearly identical hit, I felt it deserved more, not less, than last time.

 

I see the difference in that last time, the player didn't even have the puck. The first one was a disgusting and completely un-called for hit. The second one, the player at least had the puck. But I agree, it should be the same due to him being a repeat offender.

 

His nick names are the "rat" and "lil ball of hate". He's a extremely dirty player that most of the NHL hate. I've watched this little bitch for 5+ years now. He creates shit and hides behind Chara, lucic and, the other Boston tough guys. Chara's near retirement and lucic was traded. They also dont have thornton anymore either. Hope someone steam rolls him.

 

See, why does Boston trade away all of their talent? Thornton, Lucic, Hamilton, the draft pick that turned out to be Tyler seguin, etc. I'm sure there are more that I'm not thinking of, but I mean come on...

 

The Hamilton trade idk but he's playing pretty shitty in Calgary now... Seguin played three seasons for Boston (and won a cup) then got traded for Eriksson cause he was having issues off ice and the media and fans were hounding him (whether that's the actual trade reason I have no idea). Lucic is a UFA next summer and is prob going to want big dollars which Boston didn't really have to give. Made sense to get a decent player, a defence prospect, and a first round pick. Get some fresh talent and free some salary space instead of losing him in the free agency

Calgary is playing pretty shit altogether lol. Can't blame him struggling in a system that is entirely different. Seguin I didn't know about, but usually when that happens, it's because the player doesn't get along with the team (Kessel). But the Lucic trade still just bothers me. When you think of the Boston Bruins, that is the face you think of: Bergeron, Lucic, and Chara. Those are 3 tough Boston Bruins.

 

And Krejci. Guess Lucic didn't fit the future plans of the team. I just wish he didn't go to LA, as if they needed any more big mean players when they already have guys like Dustin Brown and Drew Doughty

 

Yeah but see, Dustin Brown hardly contributes offensively. Lucic is actually able of contributing offensively. If I knew he was available for a trade, I was hoping the Sharks would have snagged him up. Although, I'm pretty happy with the offseason acquisitions they made this year in Joel Ward and Paul Martin.

 

If ANYTHING, I would have sold my soul for him to come to the Oilers. Put him on a line with McDavid and not many people would ever touch the kid...

Holy hell haha. Two amazing playmakers put together.

 

Anyone watch the Winter Classic game? I unfortunately woke up too late, but heard it was a pretty good game ^^

 

Yeah, Gallagher being back made all the difference. Habs were playing with a lot of energy and it really showed, a promising way to start off the new year. Condon stepped up and made a few big stops to keep the Bruins out of it. Bruins just didn't look the same without Marchand and Krejci, none of the Habs' 5 goals really were Rask's fault (maybe the last one with a few minutes left, but he took a slapper to the throat just a few plays before so can't really blame him for being shaken up), just more a case of the team lacking the same drive as the Habs and losing all the small battles.

 

Gotcha, yeah it was really good to see the Habs kind of get back to their style of play. From a 5-1 victory you can tell that one team either had a really bad game, one team had a really good game, or a mix of the two. After a like 5-11 stretch without Price and Gallagher, hopefully they can start turning things around. It's be nice to see Price with a Stanley Cup under his belt

 

Finland vs Russia for the gold medal in the World Juniors. It'd be huge if Finland wins it all at home.

 

I'm pulling for them. Would be a good boost for them, wanna see the fans go nuts at home (also fuck Russia!!!!1111)

Still sort of salty that Canada lost though. Yea they played like an all-star team and were generally terrible the entire tournament but Blackwood allowing those 2 softies and Virtanen running to the box every shift took what winning chance we had away.


Marner looked amazing though, bodes well for the Leafs. I read somewhere that Nylander not playing was more a Toronto decision than a Sweden decision. Timashov was solid all tournament, and Kapanen with 2 assists in the win over the Swedes looks good for us as well

 

Definitely, yeah. Always good to root for the home team. I haven't been able to watch hardly any games but I'm hoping to be able to at least catch a glimpse of this one

 

Holy shiiiit what a fucking game!!

Managed to catch it during a lecture and even as a neutral watcher with Canada being out it was still insane. Finland scores the go-ahead goal with 2 mins left in the 3rd (3-2), then the Russian captain takes a penalty and slams his stick, then gets ejected from the game. (and somehow the minor is removed???) Heads to the dressing room and it's still 5 on 5. Pulling the goalie, Russia pulls even to make it 3-3 with 6.9 seconds left, and then Kapanen (Leafs prospect!! Didn't have the best tournament but still looked pretty sharp) scores on a wraparound after a wonderful drive to the net.

Finland has been exciting to watch all tournament, happy to see them win especially at home in front of the crowd. Game was nuts.

 

Was so upset I couldn't watch it. I'll definitely be watching a recorded stream somewhere though. How did the penalty get erased, that's my question '???
