It makes sense because you don't need to be staff in order to help somebody. You can help somebody just as easily as I could. If somebody wants to be a moderator then they want to a moderator because if the rank or the little extra power around the forum, not because they help people.

Although true, moderators get more respect and their voices are often louder than others.

People will see x339 in a whole different way if he got mod. This is just an example.

Not sure if srs or just newfag...

Yeah this is the idea I'm thinking. It's undeniable that when a mod says something it carries more sway with a lot of the members.

The only benefits of being mod are the extra trust and our voice. But if you're going for mod just for those reasons, then you're wanting mod to be trusted or to be heard. Although I think everyone has an equal voice.. The only time they don't is if something is discussed in the staff lounge and we obviously pick things for the good of the forum.

Well anyone that would want to be heard to push further a suggestion is only trying to help. Moderating would be another task they can help with. I don't believe the equal voice thing, but that's your opinion and I don't think it's necessary to go further into it.

What post are you quoting mage? Your post seems to be extremely random now.

He said something off topic (refer to blupig's post, 1 page back). It was deleted. Basically he just showed the ex mod icon and quoting blupig on his "mr. global" post.

Another upsetting problem: The lack of any effort in the suggestions forum by the staff. I know that the idea here or there gets discussed in the staff lounge, but the great majority of suggestions just sit there until the end of time. How about you guys actually start going through them, and implementing or denying all the suggestions in there. I can list at least 10 right now that are being ignored by staff, but could benefit the site immensity.

Staff are busy with other things, and most of them don't think they have the authority they do so they leave for other mods.

Not one single person on staff has the time? I find that hard to believe.

And I am pretty sure they know how much authority they do or don't have.

I agree with this the suggestions should either be closed and denied if there hasn't been input for months or if the thread just died with loads of support try seeing if it would still be beneficial and attempt to implement it if its possible.

The suggestions shouldn't be 11 pages long if they aren't going to be added they might as well be denied instead of sitting there for months.

Yeah I agree, it's a bit lame when you have to repeatedly bump your suggestion in the hopes that a moderator will accidentally wander in and notice it and do something about it.

Theres threads from 11 months ago where it would just be gravedigging to post on them and most likely it would be closed anyways for gravedigging if someone posted on it.

I've already told you this, and Im sick of having to mention it again, Stop attacking every fucking staff member. Sectionals and Globals can't change ANYTHING without approval, well actually no, they can change stickies and such within their sections respectively but even then its normally due to a consensus.
When a global closes a suggestion thread its either because its NEVER going to happen or its on the DNS list, thats the amount of authority they have, they can't deny any other suggestions, and thats why they don't - Admins have to do that.

The whole attack on staff is stupid because they're not doing anything wrong, they do what their position tells them to do, thats enough. just because you think moderator should mean innovator of sythe.org doesn't mean that is how its going to be, get real.

That's the whole point. They could be doing so much more. Maybe a sectional can't implement a new system on the site, but they can do their part in either bringing it up in discussion and saying, "this sucks lets close it", or "this is pretty good, let's do something with it!". They aren't powerless to do any of that, and just because the job description says they don't have to, doesn't mean they shouldn't. A McDonalds employee has basic guidelines to follow, but if they don't do more, they'll get fired, because they can do more, and it helps everything function better. If someone doesn't want to do more to help the site, why are they a moderator?

>_> The only thread where sectionals can bring up discussion is in the suggestion thread and that place only. And in most threads you do see sectionals/globals posting in them.

Sectionals and most of the time, globals really don't have any more authority or power in implementing their suggestion.

For example, I made a thread in the staff lounge suggesting for a twc dispute section and only really had 1 or 2 replies. However, I made a thread in the suggestion forum and it was denied/approved in a much more timely fashion.

Sectionals and globals will still have a lot easier time getting admins to do something with suggestions than anyone else. Either way, this is directed at whoever has the authority to deal with suggestions, however it may be. Something needs to be done with them.

Well it's the admins for larger things (not like stickies, etc), but they can't automatically due it either. They need the approval of Sythe.

You keep blaming the next person up. "Oh I can't do it he can.." oh but wait "I can't do it either, he can". Jesus christ is it really that hard to moderate a forum? You could easily be doing a lot more in there. Anyone could.

But it is >_>. As I said in post above sectionals and globals can handle little changes like stickies, maybe an event (like the graphics ones), but there isn't much more than that.

Big changes have to be handled by the admin team and sythe.

And if we look at your recent suggestions we can see this:

Sythe News Bar - Needs to be approved by sythe
Merging xbox with other games - Has to be approved by sythe
Restructuring the global moderator system - has to be approved by sythe
Incentives to post - needs sythe's approval
More incentives for staff - Needs to be approved by Sythe

Anything that changes the forum structure/major changes of sythe.org would need to be approved.

I believe the underlying issue here is the lack of knowledge in relations to moderating and implementing suggestions. You mean well, but you don't understand the system which things are done, which in turn, leads you to believe it's the moderators fault.

If your feedback is directed towards the administration solely (as you and I both know they're the only one who can handle the final execution of most suggestions), then state who you're directing it towards instead of saying "OH AND ANOTHER THING!!!!" on an all-staff feedback thread. Cosrob responded with the fact that we're powerless in this respect because it appeared you were addressing the sectionals and globals for not implementing suggestions, most of which require ACP or FTP access. We spoke in IRC, and you made it clear it was for administration only, but only after you made the comment and after cosrob responded, it's not his fault for misconstruing the subject of your feedback
