How do you guys feel about investing in the Vanguard ETF's - VBK and VO, and also the investment group BX? I think they are good investments but would also like to hear from others.
Nothing wrong with vanguard ETFs. I personally would prefer investing in one that mimics the entire market (VTI) rather than just small / mid caps if you're going to index. Have no knowledge or advice on BX.

Yea I was told by a friend that vanguard ETF's usually small mid and large cap, small bringing the most return back with the most risk. I invested a lot into these because they do have a large amount of companies in each ETF, which I think is safer, these investments are for the long run. I don't see myself selling any of it off, i've just been investing more when the market dips. to kinda of cost average.

I've been trading in the Forex markets (currencies) for a little over a year now. I've messed around with many styles - started off day trading, tried out scalping, I've flipped high risk, over-leveraged accounts, but I've found the most success swing trading. I'm using the Forex markets as my foot in the door for other investments.

I'm expecting a crash in many markets within the next year, or a substantial dip at the very least. That is when I'm planning on putting ~$10,000 into stable dividend yielding stocks (think Coca-Cola, Waste Management, etc.). Also, setting up an LLC with one of my close friends and going to buy up 3-5 rental properties next year in areas of my city that will likely be going through gentrification. I plan on getting into MFUs down the road as well.

I wish this section was more active on Sythe. You have a lot of people on here making good money, but don't know what to do with it in order to set themselves up for a great future. Simple observation but it seems like only a select few on here are informed about this kind of stuff.

Why do you expect this? Although the market is currently at it's peak - it seems justifiably so. If there is a substantial market crash however that will certainly be the time to buy if you have excess cash laying around.

Too many reasons. The market likes to have dips every 7-8 years. The European economy and Euro Zone is failing... derivatives are heavily overbought. Take a look at the Deutsche bank and tell me that thing isn't going to crash and burn. Who is going to bail them out after their economy completely fails? Whenever there is an election and uncertainty in the United States it dips as well... and this year I am expecting that to happen more than ever because a lot of people are displeased with the two presidential candidates. The global markets had some damage to it done already because of Brexit. Many baby boomers are likely to take out their 401ks in the 4th quarter. The market has been bullish for far too long and it needs to correct itself. I could go on and on about the million different variables that can easily influence turmoil in the markets.

Let me know your thoughts...

I'm seeing a lot of just "Look at this, they're going to fail soon" but why? What's backing up your claim? The market does traditionally dip after an election, but that isn't usually enough to spiral it downward. I agree the market has been pretty bullish, but I feel like your argument is a lot like "It's been bullish for so long, it has to be bearish now"

Lots of companies did very well during earnings season, and there haven't been much bad news - so what's backing up your "shits going to hit the fan" argument?

Did you not read my post at all? I gave several reasons as to why and I could give more. Add me on Skype if you really want to debate it.

For those who trade currencies, JPY pairs could potentially be a good long term buy depending on how it plays out for the rest of August.

Not a very strong argument

I'm not up to speed on this. What do you mean? How and why are they failing/crashing/burning?

They really haven't been that bad, and when other markets do poorly, the states tend to do better as the US market is pretty much the new age gold. It's an investors safehaven

Many baby boomers are likely to take out their 401ks in the 4th quarter.

Okay, sure. I don't really care for that kind of shit. It's just noise to me

The market has been bullish for far too long and it needs to correct itself.

Yeah, I tend to agree that a correction is near us

Also, sorry if you thought I was disagreeing with you, I'm really not - I just kinda wanted more substance as to why you think other markets are going to shit, like the thought process behind that

Deutsche Bank to initiate the next financial crisis? Stock could be headed to zero

Far from it. When there are high impact economic events globally, most investors move their money to Japan, not to the US.

Just do some research man... I'm about to go to sleep. And like I said, if you want to debate this then add me on Skype. I don't want to spam this thread.

Bro... if you keep up with the global markets even slightly you would know that Japan is the real "safe-haven."

The article date does not matter; the content within it still holds true. But here's a more up to date article if it'll make you happy. The yen as a safe haven: a familiar but painful refrain for Japan

Obviously CNN will say the US is the safe-haven lmao. They are US based and going to write up a biased article.

I can't take you seriously considering you don't have a clue of what's going on in the EU Zone. Please do some research. This stuff is available to everyone from a simple Google search.

Do you actively trade? Serious question.

Yeah I actively trade and work at both MS and a PWM startup in the area. I don't know why you're getting so defensive bruh I'm just havin some discussion. I see where we are having a disconnect.

You're talking currency, which the yen has been absolutely strengthening (albeit even through deflation, a weak economy, huge public debt, and negative interest rates). That I can't argue. You're right, the yen is strong and that brought their market down 8% in the Friday after brexit - a strong indication that the yen is a safe haven as a currency.

I'm talking about the market, not so much the currency. Which markets go to shit overseas, you see a lot more investments into the American market. That's why I didn't understand your "the EU is doing terribly, so the American market should follow suit." In contrast, I've only seen the American markets look to the Asian markets for guidance, not so much the European ones.

I told you several times to contact me on Skype if you want to discuss this. Why spam this thread with our debate? This thread is for 'your investments,' not 2 idiots debating the future of the markets.

Thank you. Point proven.

Is the Foreign Exchange market not a market? Uhh... check my original post on here - I said in many markets. I never limited it to the NYSE. You honestly think if the Euro zone dissolves that it won't have an impact on our market in the states?

Does anyone on here even trade in the Forex markets? Lol.

Also,

Crude Oil (WTI) has a inverted head & shoulders pattern formed on the weekly timeframe. Could be a good potential long term buy if it breaks and closes above resistance.

R41hxWs.png

USDCAD (UC) tends to trade inverse of Oil & Gold (negative correlation). Good chance of it repeating what it did in May and June on the daily timeframe. Expecting it to bounce off of resistance @ 1.2960 and go down to the support @ 1.2834/1.2781.

Bro it's totally fine to discuss our investments here and it's totally fine to disagree, there no need to get worked up.

I do think the EU breaking up could have some substainal effects, but I have no idea what they'd be and to be frank I don't think it'll happen anytime soon. Perhaps a few years out, maybe, or maybe it'll all just settle. It's a possibility but for me, it's not a very real one yet.

I apologize for our disconnect, here in the office forex != markets. We usually use markets to describe the nations stock market vs their currency exchanges.

Do you trade the VIX at all? A lot of forex guys I know enjoy playing volatility as well

The UK hasn't officially left either (they've only declared the intent to do so), yet you see how much of an impact it has had on the markets psychologically. If Italy does the same, EU is going to be in trouble.

No, I don't trade indexes. I only trade currencies and commodities for the time being.
