I suggest that Sythe run yearly or specific (i.e. server upgrade) fundraisers. During these fundraisers, Sythe and/or a committee of fundraisers try to get people to give as much as possible to reach a certain goal. This will help Sythe upgrade its servers and hopefully avoid the DDoS and just sheer lag problems it has been facing. People would be motivated to donate because in addition to the usual perks, new perks could be given out by members of the committee, i.e. free sythe lottery ticket, free account upgrade, free skilling service, etc.

    Support, criticize, amend.

We get it you have a lot money, but I think the donating service is fine how it currently is; a yearly fundraiser sounds like a lot of work this really just sounds like you're volunteering yourself for the job.

Nothing to do with me, I would not have to be on the committee (if there was one) or even be involved other than a donator. I don't see how my wealth has anything to do with this.

This suggestion could just boil down to a column on the side of the site that shows how much we have achieved out of our current goal.

For example, starting September 1st, the first $2000 of donations will be going towards a new server. If more people knew this and maybe there was that column (even if it was in just an announcement) that I was talking about, more people would be encouraged to donate.

I don't think any fundraiser would get people to donate.

The DNS list, states not to suggest a new server or host, so donating to upgrade the current one sounds a little not needed since its been discussed before and turned down. I'm pretty sure there is a long list of wannabe mods that would donate tons of money for a new server with no fundraiser at all.

It wasn't a suggestion, it is something Sythe is currently doing that is actually happening.

Then why make this a suggestion, if its already in the works? Sounds like you just wanted your ego rubbed. Feedback is for feedback; suggestions are for suggesting.

Please read before you comment and falsely accuse. I was using an example to support my point.
If you had bothered reading what I said, you would have noticed that I was suggesting a column that shows how much of a goal has been achieved that will encourage others to monetarily support the goal. I am not suggesting the goal, which is currently underway.
Be constructive, or take your blinding rudeness elsewhere.

I honestly have no idea what you're gobbing on about, you're obviously now going far off-topic beyond belief so instead of writing a long pointless response I might as well join the crowd and write the ever so original "TL;DR" kay bye now.

It'd be cool to see but I don't know if it'd really work. Members generally don't give up there money just for the server, they want a good reward.

i think its a good idea although there would need to be prizes to motivate some of the members on this site.

Edit: such as $5 donation per entry. Entrys go into the draw to win $50 or $100

somthing like that to motivate people to donate

Agree, but most of the sythe population would get on to sell one item , and ( scam , leave ). Why would someone donate to a site they wouldn't use :p.

However, it's a good idea to the people who actually go on everyday.

Edit; same idea as donating, people don't donate cause they don't spend time on the site.

The thing about donating is that people will donate more if they can do so easily. Thus, Spike made donations go up a lot by allowing paypal donations. Another thing is working towards a specific goal. Something like this, maybe once a year saying if we can raise this amount of money, we will get this done for the community then people will donate. Get a donations bar at the top and people will want to try to fill it. What we could work for could be a community chosen thing, but that would just require some talk to see what it could be.

This is exactly what I was talking about. I also think that added perks would work well in encouraging people to donate.

Right, but there aren't very many good ideas for new perks to donate.

I think what Suf is talking about is a good idea. I don't know if that was what you were talking about when you decided to post this but its really a good idea. I think they need to add a few more perks for donating though. At the moment donating 200$ will only get a few small things.

Well, perks are hard to come by. If Sythe T-Shirts were made you could get a free one if you donated $200. But, I think that the community choosing a goal to reach for donations would be a great motivator. If they want something done, then they will try to get it done.

We could give like tickets in the Sythe Lottery, or free skilling services, examples that I suggested before.
The point is that people would come forward to give small free gifts so that the community raises more money during that period.

Those only pose a problem because you would have to get people to donate those to give to people.
