Y'all need some more mods

I meant no offense. You are great at dealing with the scammers and idiots. Your hard line stance is invaluable. However there is so much that someone like Sin gives that isn't the strong suit of anyone on staff, except maybe Matthew. I have no idea what thread or what it was about but Matthew posted once in a contentious staff lounge thread and clearly owned the entire discussion and that was it. It wasn't because he laid down the law but because he commands respect and has insights that others did not have or did not see. I don't mean to offend you but I have not seen this from the current team. We need people with different strengths.

 

Took very light offence and yes I have seen matthew crush a thread with his insight as well. No harm sir.

 

Right and he isn't active enough to do it regularly and there is no one else on the team to do it. Frenzy isn't into that stuff. I hesitate to call Superman inexperienced or anything but it was not long ago that I had to work with him and Ryan. Ryan's anger gets in the way. Roray is too inexperienced. The new globals I have no idea about and the sectionals are just sectionals.

 

Give us new globals a shot we're not all that evil. Inexperienced yes but experience obviously isn't an overnight thing.

 

But one side is those who are good at handling reports and such and the other side is those who are good at promoting sections and keeping activity on the forum. Neither is preferable to the other and neither has more say than the other. While separate may not always be equal, it is 100% possible for separate entities to be equal.

 

I've got no ill will against inexperience, it's just that there should be experience to bounce stuff off of. The oldest mods you have are FireZ and Superman and neither of them has been around for that long.

 

This thread went from requesting more mods to demanding it, and then resorting to mudslinging.

 

I've never been afraid to say what I think. I try and be respectful and hope that no one takes anything I say personally. I never mean to hurt people. I just want to help the site.

 

Because we might as well just have two OT mods instead of one, an extra RS mod. Count activity in your sections as a sort of mod score, too. Reports and such I'm sure would be handled at the same rate regardless of the quota.

I'd really hope it would be staff picking. It will be a popularity contest otherwise.

That's nothing the same. In this idea, I see it more as a "trial mod" position, that you might be stuck with your whole time. I really don't mind the idea too much, but I'd still want to be able to handle reports and such.

Too hostile, though I agree. I could name at least 5 off the top of my head. Would they want to be staff, I'm not sure.

The thing with this, my replies usually take awhile, as I think of multiple different ways to reply, and reply with what I think is best. (Unless I'm rushed) Also, anyone can bullshit an interview.

This is what happens in debates. Just try and calm it down yourself instead of just throwing out what's happening.

I know I missed a lot, but I was out doing yard work for the past few hours.

 

It's been almost two years, and I'd like to think I've grown since that experience.

I haven't read this entire thread but I'll try to pitch in. I brought up similar discussions about inactivity multiple times in the past 2 years. Some of my proposed reforms were eventually implemented. Ironically the reason they took so long to get done was because of the inactivity that I wrote of. The idea that a moderator should do more than just spam reports was brought up by me several times and after the modlog reform an administrator took control of the helm and sought to enforce activity. Seems that's no longer in effect. I feel that the site needs more than just Roary in a leadership position. The experienced members you spoke of have all outgrown the website and I can only assume that Matthew and Richard have done so as well. We really don't see those two at all and from what I have seen they are not interested in taking on a leadership role. The lack of communication with them also prevents things from getting done.

I'd like to see new moderator staff as well. I've suggested plenty of candidates over the past year and I've posted numerous polls that have been denied for one small reason or another. People (myself included) have always been wary of promoting new sectionals blindly and giving people chances and nobody can stop them from being that way. So I don't mind Roary's idea of helpers being given powers in specific sections. I think of them as trial moderators and I'm sure people would be interested in leading certain sections. That said, I think the situation is being exaggerated a bit. We've recently demoted two staff members and have many cut others off due to the activity reforms mentioned above. I can assure you that we will see some new faces on the team soon.

 

Some staff changes on the way, lets see how it changes things.

 

Very excited. I think staff handled this hoopla well by giving the users what they want while being reasonable when some of the more absurd ideas started flying around

When are you going to stop backseat modding? The situation will dissolve itself just by me pointing that out.

 

Backseat modding? No, you're just post-whoring around and it's annoying. Throw in a real, constructive post once every 100 or so. Sadly it won't dissolve by pointing it out. If you want it to dissolve, throw in another idea people can work off of.

 

This is a forum (if you have forgotten). People post on threads, as for me, I'm being zealous, helping those who need it and giving my input when necessary. I'd even say that 3.5/4 of my posts are helpful and hold insight. If you want to be more technical, pm me and I will prove it to you.

As to your backseat modding, it needs to stop. You've been doing this for a while now and I just thought you should know, don't worry I used to do it too.

If you call me a post whore, what do you consider Roary?
