Y'all need some more mods

CDT isn't staff though, is it.

They would have perms in their section and be a part of the staff team. For example; they'd appear as having the OT rank to non-staff. Just in the staff area they'd be responsible for say, something for all or have a Runescape mod rank but be responsible for RS cheating.

 

I could only see that working for a few sections, though. It would be more simple to have multiple OT mods and require less mod score, but also activity in the section.

My intention wasnt to attack anyone. If I worded it too harshly then my bad, but those are genuine questions that I would like answers to.

 

I don't think users should worry all that much individual mod activity. It just breeds contention.

 

Modscores are insanely easy to get, they dont need to be lowered or anything. None of the current staff said they had any issue with it when asked. It's just a good indication of who's doing what where.

 

Obviously it's holding the staff back from actually being "active". As soon as these guys get their oh so desired position, they just quit being active. ( mostly after a few weeks)

This was never an issue in the past. The idea of splitting staff into "activity" and "community" based groups is completely asinine.

I'll be blunt here. Stop making excuses for your staff team and lead them. There is a reason this is one of the least community involved staff teams in years, there was never this much complacency from general admins.

If a staff member is too busy IRL to fulfill their entire duties, then they should step down. It's nothing new. Community activity is paramount, the team should know that. If they don't, it's your job to remind them and not turn a blind eye. If your go to response is going to be "Oh, well I told them to do it and they didn't", then actually do something about it.

 

Roary, if they enjoy the job, it won't end that way. That's talking from personal experience. Though, I'm relating real life jobs. I've never done anything online aside from RsB modding, but we didn't have any quota or anything of the sort. I feel it would be tedious, but I know it's necessary.

Once again, I don't think it'd be beneficial to have community vote on mods.

Members can't think rationally. Even though a certain mod may be very certified and very good, that mod may not have a great standing in the community. Various reasons could be infractions, or closing of threads even though they were deserved.

I don't think modship should be a popularity contest to see if you keep it or not. I think the staff should be the ones to delegate on who's putting work in and who's letting the load slide to others.

I don't think we need to single out each staff member here but I would love to see guidance from the administration to keep on top on the staff to make sure quotas and community involvement is being kept up. I don't think you need to be slave drivers by any means but even though it's a "volunteer" position it's still a position that needs to be filled.

Complacency will kill things. Sythe still has a positive future we just need to get the community involved in the right ways. Look at this topic for instance: 250 replies in less than two days, that's still good.

I had no idea that this thread would blow up the way it did. Last time I posted essentially the same thread it only had like 2 pages of replies and most of them were not great. I'm happy that this one lead to substantive discussion and I think it shows that the users are not entirely happy with the staff at the moment and that there is a lot more that they could do to improve.

 

Now that is something better. I thought you meant have the community decide on who stays and what not. Makes more sense now.

 

I thought you meant something like that but I just wanted to make sure. I'm not so sure that it would work very well because there are some moderators who do a shit ton behind the scenes and do not post much. A lot of times they will get yelled at by users and the staff will get all mad back and it turns into a fighting fest over it. I just do not think that the users opinions would be all that valuable at least for measuring activity.
