As long as they do their job right, then there is no problem with it.

As long he/she doesn't preach their believes then I don't see why not.

Americans would rather a Muslim for President than an atheist. Stupid southern Christian annoying people!

Natural forces. I don't want to turn this into a debate so I am not going to go any further than that. Would you vote for an atheist?

Even though I very strongly disagree with Atheism, I see no reason not to vote for an Atheist. To be quite honest, in a position of power, I'd prefer an Atheist over some strong Catholic/Mormon/etc

agree with this, not really a good reason to/or to not vote for someone based on their personal beliefs though IMO.

Would you vote for an atheist?

Atheists can have a moral standard, and rationality is entirely separate from morality.

No, no it wasn't. The United States is a constitutional republic, founded on the secular principals of the enlightenment.

I have parents, as I'm sure you do, too.

Yes, I would (I find it quite interesting that in the U.S., a non-Christian would have a tough time getting elected, despite the fact that some of our earliest Presidents were themselves non-Christians).

Would you vote for an atheist?

I would actually probably prefer, even though I am religious, as I think religion might impare the leader's judgement.

Would you vote for an atheist?

Of course! I would say most people wouldn't have a problem voting for an atheist but since they are groups of people who wouldn't vote for an atheist it would only make it a disadvantage to be an atheist. Hopefully in the future people won't be so narrow minded towards how they vote.

Religion creates differences. I would never vote for a man who would publicly state his personal beliefs when taking on the job of ruling this country. Which, unfortunately, means I will never likely vote.

If a man is willing to say he has one belief or another, he's most likely willing to defend those beliefs and cannot play leader to all people.

I'd rather not know his beliefs, and instead know that he accepts everything and everyone and will do the best damn job he can.

Having religion does not make you a better person. In a lot of cases this is actually the opposite. So yes, I would.

Atheists have more moral standard than all Christians, your "God" specifically states in the bible that he is okay with people selling slaves and committing genocide, it even says how much you can sell the slaves for and how to identify them, so that's a very unintelligent thing to say, because anyone, even a murderer, has higher moral standards than your "God", assuming that you believe that the bible is an accurate representation of your Christian "God"

Have you ever actually even read the bible? God was NOT okay with slavery, however he gave man free will. Therefore, it was allowed. This does not mean it was preferred or encouraged. God did instruct the Israelites to treat them properly. The bible also restricted the master's powers over said slave.

God gave man free will, he expects US to make decisions in the way he expects us to act. I suggest you go educate yourself on religions before bashing them.

Personally, if an athiest and a "god-fearing man" with the exact same political views ran for the same position, i would vote for the religious guy.

But it ultimately comes down to who will be better for the office.
if an athiest is better id pick him for sure.
