If you boil down the purpose of life, religion aside, it's essentially to reproduce. Therefore to me, homosexuality in itself is illogical. If it truly is something that you're born with, to me, it's simply a birth defect.
Now, I don't necessarily "hate" them, but it does make me uncomfortable and I believe it to be wrong on a religious standpoint. I don't understand why unless people accept anything and everything they suddenly become "ignorant" for not being open-minded. Who's to tell me what I can and cannot dislike, just as who am I to tell you what you can and cannot do with your sexuality?
I can see where you're coming from and respect your opinion. The purpose of life, purely instinctively, is to find a mate and have children that you take care of and prepare for their next stage in life. I agree with that entirely. However, I don't think we're necessarily bound to acting solely on instinct. Besides, many gay people DO have this feeling and want children, hence why a lot of gay people adopt. They can then have the same feelings of raising a child and having a family. I personally see nothing wrong with this, I'd rather a kid have a family and for the "parents" to be happy about having a child.
I'm not usually one to just call people ignorant for no reason. The only people I'm calling ignorant are genuinely ignorant because they have no legitimate reason to hate gay people, but do anyway. Either that, or they're completely uneducated about the subject and buy into the many stereotypes that are vastly untrue about gay people. If you call to attention specific examples where I have called anyone ignorant without proper reason then I will gladly elaborate further.
Back more so to the topic on hand. ShockWaveee, you're complaining about the biases and stereotypes that straight people have about gays and lesbians, but that very argument is stereotyping straights, and saying all straights have a problem with gays. The truth is that most straight people don't hate gays, and most gays don't hate straight people. You're trying to make it sound like no gay person hates straight people, but almost all straight people hate gays, which is a hugely unfair generalization, and very stereotypical. I'll actually respond to your argument when you can form a valid one.
I have not targeted the entire group of heterosexuals here on Sythe. I made mention quite a few times that I was calling only on the gay-bashers / opposers of homosexuality. The only thing that gave the slightest indicated of me assuming every heterosexual hates homosexuality is the title, which I admit is a bit alarming to those who do not actually hate it, so I'll apologize for that. However, I stand by everything I've said and feel honestly as though I have not generalized anybody. Also, I do realize that there are of course extremists on both sides, including homosexuals that hate straights. I do feel as though a lot of that hate is more intended for the heterosexuals that feel the need to deny them the rights afforded to heterosexuals, rather than just heterosexuals in general. This topic in and of itself proves that not every straight person hates gays, which is something I fully understood before writing it, so I don't think it was necessary to point that out to me, but thanks.
Btw sorry I haven't really been on Sythe the past few days so I haven't been around to checking this topic, but I see there's still been some good discussion, cheers
