When will it be legal...

For some reason, people believe weed is evil. They believe it will consume people and have them "strung out" on it. I have no idea where they get these ridiculous ideas. I'm fairly sure they've never smoked it themselves. And from a long history of smoking, I can assure you, you'd only be "addicted" to weed, if you have something wrong with you mentally. You can quit smoking whenever you want to. It isn't hard. It's tempting cause it's great, but anyone with ANY sense of self control can stop use in a heartbeat.

Most people who use drugs use them to escape from the world because they hate it or because they are escaping from an event. I simply smoke cause it's awesome and because it's something to do when relaxing. Like alcohol. But less harmful.

Learn a lesson from history and understand that prohibition, does not work.

As soon as people are more educated about weed, the sooner it will be legal. It's only a matter of time.

 

well it wont be long til its legal in cali. its a matter of when will it be legally on a national basis.. which could take a very long time since its usually up to each state individually

 

I totally agree with you on that one, and honistly i think that its total bullshit that they can legalize it by state and not nationally ya know? but yet you can still get busted for having it. It's anoying, and is whats keeping me from moving to cali and start living the rest of my life because this stuff is just so complicated with all the laws that say this, but this document says that, but this law still says i cant blah blah blah....so i really hope that they just give up trynig to do it by state and just bust ass and get it legal all over.

i know what you mean, i smoked every day more than once, for about 6 months, and just deicded to quit and i quit right then and there. HARD drugs are what people get addicted to. Marijuana in my eyes is like niquil, you take it when you need help getting to sleep or maybe need to feel a little better at night. It's something to just help you. It really has no harm, unlike drinking, and obviously hard drugs.

 

You people are ridiculous. Once again, I am posting that I am FOR legalization of marijuana - but to state that weed has no negative side effects IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS AND IGNORANT.

There are so many incredibly negative effects that may result from smoking it A LOT. In moderate use, I'm going to say there are basically no negative effects, but when it becomes a habit - it CAN ruin lives.

 

Please do explain how it can ruin lives? Curious to hear what you have to say about that. It depends on the person, their background, beliefs, religous views, and family's views on things.

 

Lol, I'd also love to here how weed "ruins lifes". Any possible stories of how a person got aids from sharing pot needles? Or how a person OD'd from smoking too many joints?

Please, show some examples of where weed has ruined a person's life lol. The only way I see how weed can ruin a life, is having a criminal record for having/selling weed. Which is completely redundant.

 

Memory loss, slowed reaction times, a much lessened ability to concentrate, and more. There are long term side effects to anything that you abuse. Take food for example, while it has no short-term effects on the bodies if abused it can have serious long term effects. Also claiming that it is non-addictive is a myth as anything can become an addiction - video games, masturbation, weed literally anything. Again, anything abused will have side effects and can become an addiction. I am for legalization of marijuana but Herman Li has a point in that it is ridiculous to claim that it will have no effects on you, and it is people that claim that it has no effects are the reason legalization is taking as long as it has.

 

I didn't say weed had no effect. I said weed does not ruin lives. A temporary memory los and slowed reaction time doesn't ruin lives.

Also, losing a hour or 2 sleep at night within the first 2-3 nights of abstinence is hardly what i'd call addiction.

 

Weed habit can bring you to the point where one basically loses self-control and just wants to smoke. You can argue "oh it's so easy to just not smoke!", well, no, not for some people. And it isn't because of lack of self-control, it's because their weed habit has gone way too far that they'd feel like shit unless they got high.

For some, it gets to the point where one cannot relax anymore without that bong hit. Sometimes they cannot eat unless they smoke to gain some type of desire for food. This is not because of pre-existing conditions of no appetite. On the contrary, abusing marijuana can lead to these conditions.

Just like any drug. It can DEFINITELY help certain things medically - but abused, it takes the opposite turn and creates the opposite effect. E.g. Xanax helps your anxiety - however if you abuse it, you will be way way way more anxious unless you get your next fix.

 

exactly, and the key word of all of what you said was FOR SOME PEOPLE so you'r right it dose cause effects, but like i stated in my responce, it really depends on the person Some effects im sure are the same for everyone but for addiction and what not it depends on the person

 

It will be such a long time till it will be legal, I don't think they will just go from putting people in Jail for it to just letting people smoke it and make it legal.

 

But in some states you allready can.....so whats the point of making some states in a country be able to smoke and not let the others? Personally i dont think it's that far from legalization.

 

I was watching this video about this Weed lawyer, She said that the main reason it is still illegal is that the Police force is primarily funded on Prosecuting weed smokers lol..

No. It doesn't "depend on the person". What the person is like prior to smoking weed has nothing to do with weed affecting them in this way. Drugs treat everyone differently. Some more negative than others - they don't need pre-existing conditions for marijuana to affect them in this way.

 

Lol, I know plenty of smokers. Most of them have been smoking daily for numerous years now. They have no psychological issues from the use of weed. I'm pretty sure you don't really know anyone that just wants to get high all day every day. And even if you do, it's a possibility of someone just liking weed more than they SHOULD. It's the same as a drunk trying to drink alcohol all day. It's a possibility of the use of alcohol, but look at all the people who can drink responsibly? Do you punish them because the others have no self control?

I'm sorry irresponsible people can't handle a drug that has such miniscule addiction towards it. If anyone can't go through a day without getting high, that's their own fault. It's personal responsibility to know of when to say when. Don't blame the weed when it happens to SOME people.

 

I do think that it will become legal in the future i'd say in 20 years or so since the tech will become so much better than they will probably makes apps and other things that makes you feel high and then it will compete against weed and the weed-companies will work hard to make it legal.

No...it's been proven that often times the people who suffer the most from the negative side effects of certain drugs already had a history of, for example, anxiety, paranoia, depression, etc.

Who's fault is that? The drug or the individual?
