What to do with 25,000 usd

If you're coming back without any planned income you might want to consider how long it will take to get another job. I've always seen real estate as a good investment if you have the stable income. Maybe look into index funds which give exposure to markets without the risk of individual stock picking and provides a diverse exposure lowering your portfolio risk.

Basically some good questions to ask before investing are:

What's your future plans(1 yr, 3 yr, 5 yr?)
Can you handle the risk? Stocks overtime do rise but if the economy tanked and your stock cut in half would you be able to hold it until it recovers?
Are you willing to invest on margin?
Would an adviser be beneficial? With $25k a good CFP can give you decent returns but may match index returns.
How much time do you have each day to dedicate to researching and analyzing investments?

 

I agree money that isn't making money is losing money in a way. 25,000 really isn't much that I know but im not foolish enough to think I can become a 1% with 25,000 dollars lol.

I personally would invest some of that money into bitcoin. It is slowly rising up again and will soon be very profitable if you invest early.

 

Bitcoin are AWFUL. I know many people who have lost thousands of dollars on bitcoins. Unless you know a lot about them and the bitcoin market, I would stay away.

 

As some have mentioned, do some research into stocks. Look at what companies are up to, and invest in some good ones

 

Iv also hear bitcoins are very risky so im going to stay away from that. Iv been researching a good bit haven't pick any places to invest with yet but I think I will soon.

 

Buy a subscription to the Wall Street Journal and Investor's Business Daily. Keep up to date on companies and what they're up to. ESSENTIAL to be up to date if you'll be doing work in the stock market. I'm in Mexico for 4 days and when I get back I will be completely shocked by what I've missed. It all moves very fast but it's so damn fun

Stay away from bitcoin pal... Most people have mentioned investments and i totally agree, however you need to really look into that and have patience before making any investment..

I suggest you talk to your local banks and ask them about investments through them, usually banks have capital guranteed investments that can bring you 3 ---> to 15% / year... not much but also your 25k$ for investment is not much.

If your a gambler, there are also investments similar to gambling where you can invest with a risk of losing your money, but a higher annual percentage.

As to cut this short, u seem like a x-army who has plenty of time, i can also guess you have a passion in that field, why not open a small shop near your house, contact china manufactures and import knives, hunting gear and army clothes etc.... I think I see you running such a shop with great passion and love...

Btw, i spent years of my life just advising people what to do with their money, I controlled hundreds of thousand of dollars of clients into good investments, however when i comes to myself, I always throw my money gambling and fuck up...

so again whatever u do, my final advice would be stay away from gambling please, either spend them in fun/entertainment for that life you live only once, or for an investment for your children or family..

First of all, very few people possess the skill set ('s!) to build their own home single handedly. Second of all you can't afford to build much more than a SHACK on 1/2 acre for $25k (you'd be better off buying a mobile home..). Material, permits, inspections would eat that small chunk of change up in a hurry.

If you don't know about something than I'd suggest not talking about it. Real estate and construction does not seem to be your area of expertise.

 

Everyone here is acting like $25,000 is a lot of money... Drake goes to a strip club couple times a month and spends $50,000 in one night Lol...

1. Do what ever you want with the money if it was me first buy a house get approved for a mortgage save maybe another 20,000 dollars and you won't have a problem there.

2. If you already own a house in a relatively good neighborhood buy a better car something reliable or you can put $25,000 down payment and get a nice C-Class Mercedes or BMW...

3. If you already own a house and a good car renovate your home build a deck hire a landscaper finish your basement if it hasn't been done change your house to hardwood if its carpet buy new appliances or couches make your home better after having a long day of work nothing is more satisfying then coming home and seeing all that you accomplished because of your job.

4. If you got all those things then your pretty much already living a better life then 80% of the world so go shopping buy some clothes go on vacation spend the money on entertainment for yourself.

Invest on real estate,not to say houses or villa.Just buy some shops which someone can rent them and you can get monthly payment from them.
Also I'd suggest for bitcoins.I think you can buy around 5 coins and keep it on PC(use a paper wallet) and keep it well.Bitcoin will raise in years and will become 1% of the world economy. Good Luck.
