What do you want our Minecraft/Pixelmon server to be?

As the Pixelmon event has ended we are now free to take it in the direction that the community wants. When we first started the event we got multiple requests to change the server into a survival server (@Cas, @FazzaZetix, @AgentPerry, @Furreal) and now there is the opportunity to do so if people want it. Please express what you would like to get out of our Minecraft server as good as possible and we will discuss it within the team.

Just to give everyone aiming to post what they would like to get out of the Minecraft server an idea of what information would be handy:

- What kind of gamemode do you want (survival for example, please specify what you want from the survival gamemode as the current gamemode is survival as well)?
- Any preference for in-game additions (config settings)?
- Any preference for mods we should add?
Please note that these are only examples, if you got a suggestion that does not correspondent with any of the examples it doesnt matter, feel free to post it.

Beside the people I already tagged I am going to use the remaining tag I can use in this thread and the first post in this thread to tag the majority of people who showed interest in the game to get them to watch this thread.

Vanilla survival is the best gamemode imo, to change it up you can always use one of those special environments maps or a custom seed.

Make it whitelisted with a application thread on the forums, no requirements, just make people apply to avoid griefers.

Create a town at spawn with enough place for public farms and shops and split the world up into sections to make it easier to navigate (one of those plugins that maps your entire server is also super useful). Also set world boundaries to avoid people going 30000 blocks in one direction which creates a shit ton of lag.

Those are the things i can come up with right now.

 

If we continue with Pixelmon, some sort of starter kit needs to be implemented. Perhaps a tool set, some food and 10 pokeballs? I personally wouldn't mind an overall new map and player reset now that the competition is over.

The spawn needs also needs a total revamp and/or overhaul, it looks terrible lmao. Let me fix it and design some gyms.

 

Also, pixelmon is best played on the peaceful game mode to prevent any hostile mobs from spawning like the stupid skeleton horses and archers that spawn.

 

Also with this, since the competition ended maybe we can buff the legendary rate and perhaps add in in game shops and a currency system using vanilla materials, that's what happened in another pixelmon server I used to play that used gold bars as a currency and you could buy things with it like the orbs to summon the legendary birds ( which is pretty impossible to get with how it's situated right now ). Also if the community wanted I'd be happy to create parts of the kanto region with maybe @Buyacc and make it our starter area compared to the sloppy one we have right now. Also something I mentioned to buyacc before but I don't he thought of it, but make mini gyms within the server and add ultra ball chests, since those are actually very scarce in the server since you can only get them from item finders and the boss Pokemon. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to post some of my ideas.

i think graves/suf could add in chests protection, but i think that dumb since it still is minecraft survival, and griefing is an aspect of it in multiplayer, for me at the least.

also if I had OP while the event was still going on, i was going to build melon farm at spawn on the pixelmon server or ask someone to do it, i just forgot about it

 

How about Pixelmon with Survival settings? A few things would have to be done though:

1. Lower the legendary spawn rates
After playing on the server I feel like the spawn rates are too high. In two weeks I was able to catch over 30 legendaries.

2. Add a small chance for orbs to appear in shops for 999k Pokedollars
It's nearly impossible to catch the three legendary birds right now. Another issue is that money is pretty much worthless once you reach $100K so it would give players a reason to keep farming cash and keep extra TMs/items they don't need so they can sell it to a shop later.

I'll post more suggestions later.

One thing to keep in mind is that Minecraft costs almost $30 now and most people including myself think it's not worth the price. I just happened to have an account from ~7 years ago when the game was alot cheaper. The PR team would have to advertise the server outside of sythe to keep it active and offer miniranks and other rewards to encourage these new players to create a sythe account.

 

it was easy to catch legendary pokemon for us since we wernt playing the game properly on how its suppose to be played.

Everyone just camped an area until it spawned, i don't think thats how its suppose to be.

 

All these idea seem like solid ideas, anyone that has any remarks to these ideas?

Will make you OP soon (after we decide what to do). We also already tried to get starter kits in the game but at the time we couldnt figure out how to. Do you have any ideas? I was thinking about maybe making quests and make people get items that way (not sure if possible but I would imagine it is).

Most of this I have already suggested as well in the team, us not having this is one of the reasons we havent gone and promoted our Pixelmon server yet. You are already OP so if the community wants it we could make it. On the mini gyms part, do you mean it like the gyms I made or are my gyms considered normal gyms (havent played any other Pixelmon server)? I agree with the chest part.

This is something I already suggested as well. But nice seeing I am not the only one that want to see these kind of things in the server.

You actually had OP during the event I do agree with that having no chest protection adds some kind of thrill, as you need to hide it somewhere safe etc. Adds to the 'survival-feeling'. Gyms and other buildings we make should be protected though.

1. @jackthehackm8 suggested the opposite I do think catching legendaries is somewhat simple right now, all you have to do is afk somewhere and wait till you see the message. What would you guys think about higher chance to spawn (so more often) + the message deleted. Just suggesting things of course, if people dont like it its scrapped.

2. I liked the idea of having an economy and having to trade a certain amount of currency in for orbs (it basically is the same suggestion). So support.

Might be wrong about Jack suggesting to opposite, talking about chances and buffing it gets so confusing lol.

 

Whitelisted vanilla survival with the following mods:

^ Allows players to reinforce blocks. Generally good for anti-griefing. Also functions as a factions mod.

Ore obfuscator: Orebfuscator - Bukkit
^ Makes x-ray mods useless.

The creative server is going to waste atm anyway, why not run both the pokemon one and a standard vanilla one and see how each work out? I only play vanilla & UHC minecraft since it's balanced and I don't need to learn the contents of each mod just to play.

You need the Forge Essentials plugin: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/forge-essentials-74735 (used this back in the Bukkit days, very reliable and useful mod)

You also can make a multitude of different types of NPCS that players can talk to to get information. I don't believe any NPCs give items though. I do know you are able to make battle-able trainers and make them give a specific item.

With "standard vanilla" you mean without Pixelmon added?

What I found and think is a cool mod to do these things is: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1278956-custom-npcs . I am no expert in Minecraft so if you say your mod is better I'll believe you.

There is an item in the game called "NPC editor" which is a very basic tool to make NPC's.

 

Yeah, but they should also be "ranked" gym leaders (Legendary, Rare, Uncommon etc.) so they have a chance of giving rarer items when they are defeated. There also should be like strong mini-gyms with leaders that once defeated give guaranteed Orbs to go and catch the legendary birds.

 

I dunno about guaranteed, but good suggestion.

 

Yeah, the basic MC game with no mods other than a couple of quality of life plugins like the ones I listed.
