Minecraft improvements

Yeah it is. I can spin up another Pixelmon server but I'll have to work with @Sythe to get another IP or port setup for it to run on but I'm not sure we should have two competing servers in anycase.

 

Ok cool. I assumed we had more IPs but also assumed they wouldn't have any ports open in the firewall.

 

I'd prefer a fresh start if the teams are willing to make the effort to build gyms and create content before releasing the server. I wouldn't return to the old pixelmon server under any circumstance.

edit: advertising the server before release on multiple minecraft forums to potentially bring more members to sythe and up the population would be a great idea. Maybe even offer pokemon prizebox rewards/pokemon miniranks/funranks for accomplishing something ingame?

 

that sounds like a good idea, and several people have volunteered to help out on the content-building front. i'm sure the PR team can publicize on MC forums as well. really the thing needed is a server created where people looking to build things can do so, and it sounds like that's finally happening.

Every time you bitch about it I'm not going to work on it for at least a week, regardless of how many times you try to complain to Richard. You're just being a grade A douchebag that's a waste of the space you occupy.

 

Alright, going to remind you at least once a week that you need to do what you joined TC for.

 

It's been a whole month and you haven't made any progress on a job which takes maybe a couple of hours at most. If you don't give a shit then give the job to someone else? It's not that unrealistic for Buyacc to be pushing you for updates when every day that goes by is money wasted on upkeep costs...

 

Grave is working on the existing server and I was unaware that he was open to spinning up a second server until a few days ago and I'm not entirely sure it's even a good idea, as I've said. So it hasn't been " a whole month". It's been like 3 days, max. I'm not going to just start working on something the moment it is mentioned without regard for how well it will function or else we end up with the Maze shit storm all over again, so no it is not realistic or acceptable for Buyacc to be pestering me for updates. I've spoken to him nicely about his rude and obnoxious behavior many times and he continues to be a raving douchebag about everything and I do not have to put up with that.

We need community and the development teams' buy in before we begin. We need an established plan for who is going to do what and what we envision our goal to be as well as how and when we are going to get there. I'm not going to waste my time to do the technical work before we actually know its going somewhere.

 

I meant in general seeing as Grave was given the go-ahead about a month ago and then you didn't seem interested in doing it either. From the outside that's all we can see.

The go ahead to do what? My understanding was that Grave was taking over so I put it down. There was miscommunication about making a second server so it's not that I was disinterested, it's that there was nothing to work on.

Based on the way the TC has been handling things I'm reluctant to play on any server that they're involved with.

1. Lack of communication with the other teams, the community, and even themselves.

• It should take 5 days at most to install the mods and build gyms, yet we've been waiting for over 6 weeks now just to find out that nobody has been working on the server since apparently the TC don't even communicate among themselves...?

2. The original pixelmon release was horrible. It seems that they just installed pixelmon and released the server without taking anything else into consideration

• Lack of content. There was nothing to do besides catch pokemon for a very long time. You couldn't even have a poke battle with other players. The PR team eventually came and created some gyms for us, which is great, however the server had already died at that point.
• It was extremely frustrating for new players. Since animals don't spawn in pixelmon, you're unable to kill them for food, so everyone ended up dying of starvation every 20 min. Also it was extremely difficult to find any wild pokemon that were the same level as your starter, so you would have to spend up to 30 minutes searching for a pokemon to fight that won't one shot your starter. This is the main reason why a majority of players quit on day 1.

TL;DR I don't trust the TC to release a server on time and even when it's released there's a big chance that the server ends up being shit.

Edit: Would also like to add that I don't play minecraft. When I heard about the competition I figured I'd reinstall minecraft after 6+ years of not playing cause:
1. Thought it might be fun to play with other sythe members
2. There were prizes involved (main reason)
3. It was pixelmon and it was more like playing pokemon than playing minecraft.

i wouldnt bother with minecraft now, get on runescape servers or wow servers

 

I think it needs to be planned in a lot more detail than that.

It's been suggested before and we've thought about it a bit. Certainly possible. Do you want any protect mods or anything or just raw survival?

We absolutely fucked up some communication. Not sure how we can fix that in the future. It seems like a systematic problem to me.

I don't know whats up with it either.
