that's actually good change, honestly last two ideas were absolutely idiotic, I'm glad you came up here with reasonable solution of that problem, however yeah... I still don't see what's that bad in autobumpers, autos are to make our work more automated, generating less effort on menagment and more time on efficienty of running service, not allowing autobumpers is nothing else than making people waste time. Of course if someone is available for just 2 hours a day then he definitely shouldn't bump 6 times a day every 4 hours, but there are some 24/7 services which take their sweet time to bump all their threads, not talking about myself, I run just one service atm, if the problem is postcount farming - make everyone create alternative account for autobumper, disable/reset postcount on it if it's possible and that's it - actually vanishing bumps after 48 hours solves this issue already.

 

Literally the only people that complain about auto bumpers being banned / rules changing are popular gold selling websites and people with an advantage already.
You’d think people that are getting so much recognition from a site would adapt to new regulations rather than complain about something that literally takes up a matter of minutes.

Cause you kinda worked for that advantage, we were competing with people who gave discounts for posts on their threads to have their threads bumped literally every few minutes, was it more fair than now? Autobumper is not any huge expense, everyone who is active can afford it. Some people save money by not using autobumper - it's their advantage. Some people spend money for autobumper to increase services efficiency instead of wasting time on bumps - that's their advantage.

I personally feel like it’s a cheat way of receiving recognition, why should you be placed on the top of the list every 4 hours for paying 10$ while not having to put the slightest effort into advertising your business? In my opinion it’s totally not fair, especially for those that attempt to log in and specifically time when their thread will be allowed to bump again???

 

Im not sure if you realised it yet, but handling orders, delivering goods, performing services is what gets you money, not opening 15 tabs and writing "bump". It's no difference if you'll set your alarm every 4 hours and waste few minutes or spend 5 cents a day to bump your threads and not waste even single second.
Honestly, we are using scripts everyday to make our work easier, you don't go personally to bank nowadays to send payment, you can do it under 1 minute from your mobile phone, technology makes things easier, faster so we don't waste that much of our time. When you prepare a meal you don't light a firepit, you put things in oven/microwave and get the meal much faster and without unneccessary effort.
For me personally, this rule doesnt really change anything, I bump just one thread I can live with it, but there are people who run much bigger businesses than me and as Sythe's businesspartners they shouldn't waste their time on unneccessary stuff.
There's significant difference between effort spent on services, deliveries, quality of service and unneccessary effort.

 

I completely understand a business requires actual work, why are you complaining about this?
Like I stated earlier I’m sick of seeing people attempting to make money with the slightest effort.
Years ago people had to physically mine in a pit, to earn a loaf of bread. Nowadays people complain about spending 2 minutes to promote their business in front of thousands of people which leads to hundreds of sales. It’s ridiculous!
I don’t think the point of this is to do with you opening 15 tabs, but it’s to give people that would love to provide the same exact service as what you are the same advantage, people that are putting in just as much work as you are that you’re complaining about, aren’t getting anywhere near as much recognition due to people abusing the system. Simple.

 

it's not really cool for people who spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars for bulk bumps and now they became totally useless without any right for refund. There are a lot of victims of this, noone really benefits from it as result will be the same, threads will be bumped even more frequently due to changing bump timer from 8hrs to 4hrs and there'll be even bigger advantage of 24/7 services over the novices, not allowing autobumpers won't help anyone, all it'll do is make people waste more time. As I said above, if the issue is postcount farming then idea that Richard posted - bumps vanishing after 48 hours would totally fix this issue because I totally agree it was way too easy to build 1K postcount in literally few weeks but hey? People did the same in 2011 without autobumpers - so autobumpers are not source of that problem, I remember good old days when I was staff member when there were ban evaders who were getting 200 postcount per day with finger in their asses, it was that easy.

 

Not allowing autobumpers helps the majority of the forums that actually go out of their way to promote what they’re selling rather than spending a quick buck to have it automated. their business is being denied by people that aren’t even online on the forums yet are promoted to the top of the list constantly. Not like any of this matters anyway because the rules have already been revoked basically because of obvious larger websites bitching about this, which has lead to vouches being every 2 hours. Which basically means the larger websites will be back at the top.

 

They worked for their engrounded position in market and customers base.

 

So google and YouTube earned their recognition which means other gaming forums/blogs/video sharing sites aren’t allowed

That’s a good middle ground to hit, I like that version; however, I do have a question for you.

As a previous worker on a goldselling livechat where I would have several browsers open for payment methods, a couple emails open for inquiries, a Skype open for additional line of communication, an RS3, OSRS and deadman client open, a couple VPS open for connection to various different things, as well as 10-15+ concurrent customers on Zopim all actively trying to do business, do you now expect me to have 10+ sythe threads open to actively check when a vouch is recorded and have a timer set for 2 hours for each thread so that I know when I can direct vouches to the business thread vs when I can direct vouches to the vouch thread?

My point is, for large websites, this is hardly feasible. Might I suggest altering bumping in some way so that vouches do *not* bump the thread unless the previous post was over 2 hours old? This would allow people to still collect vouches without worry of the timer, as it will only then bump the thread after the appropriate amount of time has passed.

 

so that way we will have vouches split again, and the other rule about vouches on sales threads is gone, what if someone forgets to vouch and vouches after a few hours, and if you are a bigger seller, you mistakenly get 3 vouches in 2 hours?
I can imagine this being abused and some sellers who buy/sell from people they know postponing vouches lol, to have infinite 2 hour bumps

I think the situation with no auto bumps was bad enough, waving another rule (vouch on sells threads) makes it super hard to understand, especially for new sellers joining sythe

Can it be weaved completely then so it isn't just postponed vouches but it is more organic, no growth hacking opportunities opened, just what a regular person would do, bump a thread by hand and give his clients 1 thread - either a vouch or sales thread ( by personal preference )

Adding rule on rule is dumb ass fuck + confusing for whole community. I know i was agaist vouching on sale thread but if i woud have to choose between 2 hour timer(for customer vouch) or no timer at all i woud rather go for no timer at all cus this will be hella confusing for new + old gold sellers.

And if you want equal chance for everyone make bump allowed every 2h (without autobumper ofc) and infinity bumps allowed from customer.
