Holy crap, I'm from Santa Barbara lol.

The nice parts of Santa Barbara are pretty expensive but it's decent here, if you move to Goleta (10-15 minutes away from Santa Barbara) the houses are really cheap their (Apartments/houses) the University is also their as well as shopping malls, etc.

If you need more information about it PM me.

EDIT: I'd like to move to England myself actually (lol) and visit Europe. That's basically what most of my friends here want to do, go to Europe.

If you wanted to play it safe, you could go work for ski resorts out in Colorado, Utah, Etc. in USA. most of them provide workers housing and when i was in colorado last month skiing 90% of the workers there werent from the US. they were on work visa's which they said were really easy to get, not sure how much i believe them.
plus you would arrive in the US already with a job.

it might be something worth looking in to. kinda take yourself away from home for awhile. i know being gone for awhile can make you appreciate even the mundane things of home life. plus you would arrive in the US already with a job.
