What is everyone's opinion of botvps?

 

You have some good points, all makes sense to me. But a statistic like 99% is hard to believe theres no way anyone can make such a calculation about such a thing. I know 3 providers that use the same shared configuration so your saying you know of 297 providers that dont?

Thus being said PhotonVPS has ran me 6 auto sorcs easily, with the right set up so I can't complain if they lag a bit if I slap another bot on it. Never had problems eating my steak with the other wolves on my node, so hopefully nobody creates a program that is heavy on cpu light on ram buys a vps with photon gets placed on my node and crashes my 6 bots. God forbid that happens, but I see your point.

botvps, never heard of them till now. They sound like they have a good "Divine" plan though 6GB sheesh.

Look I'm not going to go back and forth with you here because it'll lead to a lock, but if you must know I read a discussion thread between a couple providers on a forum when I was looking up vps providers on google. Can't be bothered to find it for you. So that's two and Photon is three. Now your turn?

I don't worry about it because it hasn't affected me, photon is 4+ years old I'm pretty sure they know what they are doing regarding overselling.
Nor do I worry about any vps crashing program you say is possible, unless you know of something I don't.
Like I said you have some points, and I'm sure I understand you perfectly.

 

You guys are getting way off topic. This sticky is supposed to be a place where people can discuss different VPS providers, their experiences with them (if any), and recommend (or warn) them to others, not to discuss about some hypothetical situation that may or may not ever happen.

 

An MD5 cracker with the threads amped up will greatly use the CPU with almost no RAM usage. I don't mean to start an argument, I am sincerely interested in what professional companies would use such a setup. No need to get offended, you'll still make affiliate sales. (lol)

This isn't off topic at all, we are discussing one of the most popular VPS hosts in this community and a major flaw in their system. I know I would be angry if all of my BDK bots crashed, I would lose millions in gear and hours worth of killing/looting.

 

After accessing my vps for the first time how long should my screen be black? It's been so for minutes now..

Well how does it work, how does it do it? Like do download something, sorry this is an odd question hope someone can answer it

 

From what I know, Photon is overpriced compared to SeerHost. You can buy a 1gb VPS for 15$ a month which easily runs the most ram needed bot, SW with ease. Photon is like 25$ a month I think to have java on it, compared to SeerHost which is 15$ for 1 month with the rsbots.net client ALREADY installed. Plus they have an amazing guide on how to update the bot, setup the VPS etc.

I'd go with SeerHost, but I've only used them and had a great experience.

Plus they're hella cheaper.

It shouldn't be for any more then a few seconds, I'd suggest re-loading your VNC viewer.

 

I just talked to SeerHost's live chat, it seems they divide up the CPU's fairly evenly and each VPS carries a decent amount of power. If I were to go with a provider, it would be them.

Note : That is my completely un-biased opinion. I'm not getting paid through affiliate links or anything that may change my opinions.

Your trolling attitude aside I can agree with that one, I hear good things about seerhost. In the future or next billing cycle I might try a vps from them, but for now I'm set.

You might have to go into putty, type
vncserver -kill :1
nano /root/.vnc/xstartup

Now this is where I think you missed a digit or saved as another file name etc.
Depending on your distro make sure the last line that said "twm &" is edited and replaced by:

"startxfce4 &" if you have xubuntu, as per KeroKeroCola's guide
"startkde &" if you have kubuntu
"/usr/bin/gnome-session &" if you run ubuntu

From there press "CTRL+X" it will ask you to save Press "y"
now make sure not to type anything or press spacebar because it will now ask you filename,
just select the default /root/.vnc/xstartup as filename
and then you type "vncserver" into putty then can exit putty
and see if it fixed anything via your vnc viewer.

 

How do I know if I have xubuntu, kubuntu, or ubuntu? I assumed I had xubuntu I guess since I followed the guide. I don't even know what these things mean lol.
