VPSes for botting - Talk about them here!

Hello. I am interested in paying for a VPS that will allow me to run 8+ autosorcgarden bots.

I have a few questions as I am new to VPS's.

1) Are they a legit business? Or more of an underground in your mothers basement business?
2) What does VPS stand for, and what do they allow you to do?
3) If I buy a VPS, can I run 8+ sorcgarden bots all signed? Or do they need to be unsigned? Normally when I run an unsigned app on my computer it is slow as hell, would this be different with a VPS?
4) Where is a good VPS site?
5) How hard are they to understand with no prior VPS experience, good problem solving skills but I'm not too experience with computer interworkings?

 

Some are legit, some are designed just for rs botting.

vps = Virtual Private Server. You basicly use another computers resources to run your bots.

It depends on the vps that you are using and what bot they are.

Seerhost

There are many guides out for setting up a vps, but Seerhost is easier to use since it has all the crap that you will need preinstalled. The only thing you will need to do for Seerhost is setup a VNC which isn't that hard.

 

What is a VNC and where do I find one?

Also I looked at Seerhost. For 5-8 bots (maybe even 10 in the future) which package should I buy?

Also, what is the ban rate for level 3's at sorcgarden?

What bots are you trying to run? Only client sleep time is supposed to be the left. iBot and paint sleep times should be to the right.

Are you running all 4 bots in a single client? Using multiple clients simply is not going to work.

Since Seerhost is a VPS especially for botting they will have specific directions for setting up a VNC.

Ban rates are dependent upon a person reporting you. But then again, you'll most likely get jagrolled instead of banned.

 

Could I get by with the silver package? Gold is rather expensive.

 

They are VERY legit. It's basically like any other company. Although some do look a bit shady because of their websites.

I believe you can run them in signed if each bot is in a different world?
But something in the back of my head tells me you need 1 auth for every signed bot, but you can have 1 auth and 1 signed and 1 un-signed. Might want to check the rsbots.net forums on that.

A good VPS site would be http://seerhost.com/ I currently use the bronze package and it's by far the cheapest for the amount of ram and it is hardly ever down. Plus, it comes with the RSBots.net client installed and a guide to help you set-up the VPS in under 20min if you have no clue what you're doing.

With SeerHost you don't have to have any prior knowledge to set anything up. Two at most.

 

Rule of thumb is 1 bot per 1 gb, but depending on the bot, like say autoSwampTar, you could get two, but autoSW only 1.

 

Wait, so how would I get 8ish bots on a VPS? The gold only has 4 gigs?

 

No offence but that's a load of shit. You must be overselling because I run bots with 200mb of ram, not 1gb or ram.

 

So with silver (2gb) I should be able to run 5-8 bots?

 

I would highly highly recommend photonvps, I can run 8 autosorc bots easily with ram to spare and without going into my burst. I am using Xen - Warp 4. They might be in stock atm, It's well worth the wait if they are not. Prices are slightly higher for a reason, excellent VPS provider. Separate clients, 8 AutosorcgardenPro's and getting good percentages. Just set them up for the night and thought I'd show off my Photon.
Gonna order another Warp 4 before narbs take them all next stock.

 

The Warp 4 costs like $100 a month or something? Is there a better deal somewhere?

SG takes up about 500MB ram per, my SW bot takes up 1GB. 200mb won't go far.

 

I've tested SW bots on my computer and it doesn't take up 1GB of ram. If it does, there is a serious issue. I'm not sure about SG bots but SW bots do not use that much ram. Try running it on the lower graphics.

 

469ram for a sorc bot average I would guess.

I pay 70/month, Go to my guide and look for the 10% off coupon code, use that. I make it back in less than two days anyways, the cost of the vps I mean. I will probably try fire up 9-10 bots tomorrow just to test it out.
