If you don't even know how to install XP then you're in NO position to judge whether Vista is better than XP or not.

To those who say Vista uses more RAM, you're wrong. My 3 year old laptop runs vista better than XP, with 512MB RAM and 1.4Ghz Processor.

    http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000688.html

Why would you use WindowBlinds just to emulate a Vista look? And also, the format of Vista is easier to use, trust me.

    Vista OR XP

there are many ups and downs with both vista and xp, linux is great and more for programmers.

My vote would be xp but it is very close to vista for many reasons.

here are some of "my known" pros and cons:

    XP

    Pros:

    *basic interface
    *very easy to navigate
*popular, therefore 90% of todays pc games run on it
    *cheap
*uses low ram (compared to vista)
*simple navigation and easy to use directories

    Cons:

*interface is getting old and sort of "disgusting" to modern interfaces
*can crash if alot of "uneeded" data is being processed (crashed 2 days ago whilst playing Unreal Tournament2k4, and no do not blame it on my specs)
*not much useful features unless bought or downloaded
*can be annoying in many ways
thers more but i cant think of any ot the moment

    Vista

    Pros:

*Excellent and "calm" interface (even better with ultimate's transperancy)
    *4 yr old+ navigation :)
*Tons of great features and added programs
    *the graphics compatibility is amazing
more but im havnt been on vista for a while

    Cons:

*eats the shit out of your ram if you have low ram
*the cpu the interface completely slows down a 0.90 (or lower) GHz processor
*The amount of processes to run the actual interface is absurd
*annoying security (unless you rip the original firewall and parental from it)
*has been know to lose connection with cd drives and sometiems USB connections (had have it done twice)

As I have already said there is more to this but this is only MY know knowledge.

My vote still stands at XP for its build and simplicity. I dont care abotu the interface as I use custom interfaces from AlienWare.

Oh yeah.... Vista. Have you ever bothered to USE it before you bash it? It's great software. I use it as my primary OS, and have had next to NO issues with it (I can't say that for any other OS at all, seeing how much development I do). Vista has cost Microsoft 6 years and $10 billion to develop.

XP for the love of god, my parents bought me a vista as a present, but they didn't know much, and I didn't know, I get home and this thing crashes in a matter of hours, I has a half-life of fly. Its glitched everywhere I look, there is always something wrong with it -.-

I can't believe why people choose Vista. It's like when XP was released, a big failure. It will get better in time, but i'd say it will take around 1 year.

    Vista OR XP

    True.

I still think Vista is good... but at this point of time of my post: XP > Vista

Vista is supposably still Beta. Maybe BASIC is just shit cos that is all I have tried, because I have heard good things about Home Premium and Ultimate.

    Linux > XP > Vista

Linux you can do the most with if you know what your doing.
XP is an easy to use all around everything.
Vista is Microsoft's current EPIC FAILURE.

    Vista OR XP

I run vista and I like it a lot better than XP. Much more simple, the only problem I've had is it won't run some of my old games that aren't vista compatable.
