Upcoming World Championship

Reading this thread about how you guys think NA are the innovators and EU is stagnant is enough proof that you are all terrible at analyzing the pro scene.

How is NA stagnant NA has evolved more and faster then any other nation. The game gets balanced based on NA meta which is one problem that NA has to struggle with (keep creating new strats when nerfs/buffs).

Please give me one example. From my own experience watching the pro scene, NA copies from all the other regions.

NA is the weakest region of them all, C9 is the ONLY team that is decent which isn't even close enough to say NA is a stronger region than EU. The rest of the NA teams hasn't got the slighest chance against teams from other regions.

I'm shocked you guys can be so blinded, or are you just incredibly biased towards your own region? Results from all the international tournaments in the past should be proof enough that NA is weak.

EU has had close standings throughout all of their teams and thus are lacking a dominating force. EU is currently considered by the vast majority of people the least likely region to win at world's.

There have only been a couple of international tournaments this year. The largest one being the all stars match in which the EU team lost 0-2 against the NA team.

Wait, so, because NA has a dominant force (C9), you consider the region stronger? Wat. It means one team is stomping the rest of the poor teams in NA. That makes NA overall weak, not strong.

All-Stars, the biggest one? Are you serious? The teams were fan-made. Smh. EU also had the disadvantage of poor communication due to members being from several different countries, speaking different languages.

IPL5, IEM Katowice and IEM Hanover were the largest international tournaments this year.

IPL5: NA scores a whopping 6th place, click the link to see all the other placements: http://lol.gamepedia.com/IGN_ProLeague_Season_5#Results
IEM Katowice: EU's Gambit Gaming gets 1st place, 2-0ing both Azubu Frost and Blaze. Team Curse gets 7th place (NA team), out of 8 teams participating: http://lol.gamepedia.com/IEM_Season_VII_-_Global_Challenge_Katowice#Results
IEM Hanover: There's not even a North American team in this tournament, despite being IEM's World Championship (150k price pool).

Let's also take a look at the S2 WCS: TL;DR: NA scores 7th, 9th and last place http://lol.gamepedia.com/Season_2_World_Championship#Results

Another, rather tiny international tourament this year: http://s3.majorleaguegaming.com/2013-dallas-leagueoflegends-international.html

NA has definitely had a great showing this year. Let's not even start talking about season 2...

In terms of hype, interest and exposure it was the largest.

You have the right to your own opinion. I'm just saying that the majority of people disagree with you. None of the EU teams are favored to win.

In terms of actual facts and previous results, it proves NA is currently the weakest region, that's all I'm trying to say.
Mainly what got me heated was the whole 'NA are the innovators' and 'EU is stagnant', because both those quotes are so far from true.

I personally think neither of them are going to win and are both pretty stagnant lol. They're grouped in my mind relatively close together.

C9 follows a korean meta, they even said it themselves, this is why they're so dominant, koreans are dominating the LoL scene atm. I wouldn't be surprised if 2 korean teams ended up in the finals.

Sorry no they don't and no they didn't nothing they do is how Korea works.

OMG and Cloud9 are 2 of the best teams because they focus on obtaining the most global gold its not a region specific strategy but its nothing like korea.

I bet OMG & C9 will win 1 & 2.

NA is the biggest innovator but this isn't due to any reason other then its popular so the balancing happens based on the western meta why would you need to innovate when your region doesn't have changes to its meta. If the champs and strats you use are ignored by Riot they won't get changed so you can use them forever where if C9 wins with a strat Riot nerfs it. Its nothing to do with skill.

Saying like Korea or China are innovators is completely retarded.

I have no idea what you're saying. What I got is this, NA are the innovators because the region is popular? Like I asked before, can you give me one example of what NA has innovated in terms of meta, champion picks, strategies etc?

There's no logic in what you are saying other than when NA finally decides to copy things from the true innovators, Riot notices how broken it is, and then nerfs it.

Here's one example: The early turret push strat. The Asian pro scene were the first ones to show the other regions how powerful this strategy is. When they came and played in an international tournament and snowballed the heck out of the game due to early global objective gold, NA and EU starts to do this as well. Riot realizes the turrets are too weak and allows too much early game snowball potential, they proceed to buff turrets early game to try and balance it.

Example number two: EU (Diamondprox) shows how powerful Volibear and Nasus jungle can be, early in S3. NA starts to play Volibear and Nasus as well. Both champions receive nerfs shortly after. Diamondprox popularized two new junglers, NA copies and then Riot nerfs. That's not NA being innovative.

I don't think you know what innovating means to be honest. Innovating = bringing something new to the table.

Azubu Frost (Korea) was caught cheated in the games against TSM they should have been Disqualified but it was too late so they just lost a portion of their winnings.

Calling a game pause just to look at the livestream checking TSM's locations then TSM went on tilt after the strat failed when it should have worked they got cheated and everyone knows how moral affects a team game.

After that Woong had to leave the team cuz he technically blew his own reputation.

Honestly, it's relatively unfair to consider innovation as something tied to any specific region. Like you've said, aufix, Diamond started Nasus and Volibear jungle in a big way. It wasn't EU. Koreans happened to be pushing early turrets because someone (or some team) from Korea found that it was a good strategy, so everyone in Korea copied them. Every region has its own innovators.

I consider EU the weakest region because none of its teams have looked capable of beating other region's teams. Cloud 9 and TSM, whether this year or not, have proved that they're able to be competitive constantly, so I place NA as a whole above EU. Gambit has sort of managed to stay relevant, but they were only the best ages ago when they were still Moscow 5. And Korea is obviously the strongest region as a whole because their teams are all quality across the board.

Perhaps I'm misinterpreting what you're saying, but lots of European teams have proven that they are capable competing against other region's teams.

I'm starting to think that people in this section don't follow the pro scene at all (not trying to be rude), or you are relatively new to LoL eSports. C9 has yet to play against foreign teams, though yeah I can admit they look like a team with high potential to compete globally.

TSM on the other hand... I honestly can't remember the last time this team secured a victory even against a quality European team. Out of ~10 games against Koreans, they haven't won a single one. They don't look remotely close to being able to compete against foreign teams, especially after they got 3-0'd by C9 and C9 looked like they were toying with them. I honestly predict TSM to drop out of S3 WCS in the group-stages.

Gambit isn't the only team with high potential from EU. Though Fnatic doesn't have the exact same roster as they did in IPL5, I'd like to remind you they 2-0'd TPA. Fnatic has potential, and it's way higher than TSM. Lemondogs are looking good as well.

And Korea is obviously the strongest region as a whole because their teams are all quality across the board.

Nothing to say here. I fully agree.

Maybe we should continue this conversation when the S3 WCS is over, idk.

TSM has a history of quality, and last year's lost to Frost was questionable at best. I feel they have gotten less competitive, though. Time will tell on all of this, yep :p

There are only more Koreans this time.

Regi vs Faker on 16th (?). That will be interesting.

I'm glad Korea has 3 slots this year, even though I'd love to see an NA team pull down the victory. I expect Faker to outplay Regi, but I imagine General Oddone will make his presence felt on Regi's behalf.
