Are MMORPG's Taking over the World?

Well...you "Addiction" is YOUR fault AND your PARENTS fault. Your parents because they obviously have no idea what is going on, they let you play 6+ hours a day, and they don't catch you playing all night. They let your grades drop and they still let you play. My paents would take away my computer from me if my grades started to drop (good thing my teachers are all idiots who dont know how to teach, so its easy to get good grades) WOW, no offence, well...much offense to you and your parents, your parents really suck at parenting.

Yes the game is addicting, but have you ever wondered why the creaters of the game made it addicting? They want to make money!!!! They are not gonna make a boring game they will do what every game developers try to do, make it addicting!!! It is not a drug, if runescape is a drug, then other people who are addicted to other games besides runescape will say that it is a "drug". Games are made to be addicting, it is YOU and your PARENTS responsibility to decide how many hours you play per day.

LOL sorry.. Again someone who doesn't quite know the purpose of quoting... Where you saying this in regards to me? Because i don't play runescape, and i havent played for a year. I am using my experience of the game and other games in an argument to do with economical and social factors that could be effected world wide due to the addictive nature of the game.

Before you go and call me a no lifer, perhaps you should verify your statements. :P

I think this is blown out of proportion, I mean you can't take the game to seriously and let it affect anything else in your life. You just have to realize it's a game. Also to the people who committed suicide over the games, if they were going to commit suicide over a game they were obviously really depressed and suicidal, and if the game didn't set them over the edge then i'm sure something else would have, so you can't really blame the game.

P.S. It's called control and responsibility, and knowing it's jsut a game.

Just to answer the original question which was asked. MMORPG may be taking over the internet, but the world? Give that one a few years. ;)

i don't think they're taking over the world. maybe some people get addicted to it, but thats some poeple and not everyone.
