    You might be correct on that to be honest. I haven't done enough research on it to know. If that is the case though then maybe it will be completely legal in all states one day.

    I actually had to laugh at that one. So do you agree with making it legal?

    Should be legalised, same as drugs. Crime rates associated to it will drop if history is any indication. There is really no argument that thwarts the positives of it.

    But do you really want people thinking drugs is fine if it's legalized? If they make drugs like cigerattes and put them in a bad light and tax them a ton I see your point. If not, I see no good in legalizing drugs.

    This is off topic but there is good in legalizing or at least decriminalizing certain drugs. Drugs like meth and heroine should be kept off the streets, but drugs like weed really wouldn't cause any harm. In fact, I believe they'd do the complete opposite. Currently, we spend a ton of money housing inmates for weed related crimes - we could be using those resources elsewhere. We also encourage a deadly black market because of it being illegal. If it were legal, there would be no need for a drug dealer that has to claim his territory by instilling fear into other "competitors" (drug dealers). Instead, it'd be privatized and taxed

    I kept it short because it's really off topic but I felt the need to respond

    Legalize=/=decriminalise.

    Decriminalising all drugs results in users being more educated about said drug. Also, decriminalising a drug means that users are treated as people seeking rehabilitation, opposed to seen as criminals and tossed in jail. We need to educate users and create a safe environment. Progressive thinking is what is needed, and the bigger picture can only be met by progression.

    You also need to see the bigger picture - removing the crime aspect associated with drugs (and prostitution), alleviates the aspect of gangs and crime syndicates controlling it's every move. Crime rates are certain to drop, as well as all other offences pertaining to it.

    Legalising marijuana however is something I fully support.

    Also, there is a difference between legalising and decriminalising:

    legalize

    verb
    verb: legalise
    make (something that was previously illegal) permissible by law.

    Decriminalization

    Decriminalization or decriminalisation is the abolition of criminal penalties in relation to certain acts, perhaps retroactively, though perhaps regulated permits or fines might still apply.

    Ah alright good, I wasn't sure if you wanted drugs to be legalized and accepted. Obviously you don't. We should probably get back on topic now tho, sorry for getting off topic.

    It should be legalized, although a license should be required as well as STD screenings inbetween sessions

    Should be legalized and regulated by the government. We'd benefit from the taxes as currently there are obviously no taxes and pimps gain most of the money. It would open up a pathway for moneymaking for many women (and possibly men) who have no other option. With monthly medical testing, risks are much lowered for the spread of STDs since while they are illegal there is no need for STD checks. It's also statistically proven to reduce rape, as in England areas that have brothels have a 300% decrease in rape.

    I would never use one, but if women CHOOSE to sell their body, and men CHOOSE to buy those services, why not lol

    I guess there is nothing wrong with it as long as it is done in private places and not in public places like parking lots, etc.

    This is assuming all prostitutes are females. Typically, yes, but there are male prostitutes. It's not always being "desperate", too. A lot of guys go on dates with girls just so they can end up having sex in the end. Would you rather do let's say 3-4 dates each date costing upwards of $100 to get laid or just pay the $300 and do it with a professional (odd word to use but it'll probably be one of the best sexual experiences of your life).

    Paying to have sex with someone is objectifying that person. Therefore they become an object for pleasure and not a human being. It's not morally right. Should remain illegal as it can have a major effect on society.

    @Yellow text,

    That's subjective. Your judgment is not absolute. Everyone does not think the same as you and I doubt a prostitute cares if you think he or she is degrading themselves, nor is it your call to give that judgment.

    @Red text,

    > Ditches sex toys (objects) to find a human being
    > Pays for mutual sexual pleasure
    > Finds out it wasn't a human after all, just another object

    When symbolism goes wrong..

    @Green text,

    Morality is different in many cultures. The Mayans thought it was morally right to press boards on babies foreheads to flatten it because a natural forehead was undesirable.

    Germans thought it was morally right to kill Jews without probable cause.

    Dictators thought it was morally right to kill anyone who had different opinions to their own.

    Excuse me if you think it's not morally right to pay for sexual pleasure, as if it affects you or anyone else in this world.

    Thoughts on Prostitution?

    It's not about if it affects me or not. It's about society. Prostitution can lead to pregnancy, which makes the government have to pay out more single mother welfare payments. This lowers economic growth which has negative effects on society itself. Prostitutes can also get depression due to the activities they are involved = increase in suicide rates. People that pay to use prostitutes = another person out there that has the potential to rape someone because they have discovered from the past that someone has submitted to them.

    It's morally wrong for the person that is offering themselves as an object to be used for sexual pleasure. That person is now being simply used just for sex. That person is commercially selling themselves as an object/service of sex.
    Your body is much more than a pleasure thrill.

    You can't be serious.. I hope you are trolling. This is the 21st century. Prostitutes are always on the pill and anyone who pays for one always has protection. In case you haven't realized, society is overly sexualized and the majority agrees in legalizing prostitution. You still can't come up with a logical reasoning for it affecting you and anyone else. Also fyi, brothels provide protection.

    Morality is subjective.. Why are you repeating yourself even though I debunked that part of your argument?

    I suggest you read the rest of this thread because it established good points. Legalizing prostitution would only be a positive. Stops sexual violence, murders, stops std's from spreading (brothels provide protection like I previously stated) and gets them off the street and into a well regulated brothel.

    Thoughts on Prostitution?

    I think it depends on the circumstances, in places like Amsterdam where the prostitution is run legally by free young women seeking money and their doing it by their free will then yes it's fine
    But forcing young girls by 'pimps' to have sex with men for little money and kept in a barely human existence beaten and verbally abused well then in that case I'm totally against it
