The "War" in Iraq

Well, Slave, we already did set up a democracy over there. Trouble is, it's failing miserably.

I know, i was referring to a real democracy, when 40 or so people get blown up a day, it really isn't one.

People Are voting over there so its failing?

Because, people are getting shot, every day there are news reports of bombings, the people want us out, and it's costing of billions.

We are making progress in setting up the democracy, it might not be fast, but we're still making progress none the less.

and we're in the middle of a war, of course people are going to die and get blown up thats what war is.

First, Sk80rdie76, it's NOT a war. Even if Congress had declared war on Iraq, it would be an occupation at this point.

The democracy has already been set up, and we're trying to "cooperate" with it (it doesn't really have a choice, since it's simply a puppet of the United States).

We're not making progress. In terms of coalition casualities, we're staying in the exact same place. In terms of the goal of getting Iraq a stable democracy, we're slowly moving away from that.

Yes, but the democracy is not completely set up and stable.

i h8 wars :(

i hate people with 4 word posts :D

Alrighty, so this goes to shredderbeam and sk8.

Heres what sk8 is saying "Yes, but the democracy is not completely set up and stable."

and shredderbeam "It is completely set-up. The government is fully incapable of supporting itself, and what we're doing to try to help isn't working at all."

I personally do not believe we should be over there wasting money, and adding to our national debt, and i think its gay.. but thats beside the point.

shredder, do you have any proof that we have in fact completely set up a democratic government, and that it has failed? or is it your own opinion? you and sk8 seem to be arguing back and forth about the same thing.

and sk8. so you do in fact support the war, right? I'm just wondering, as to why you do? And why do you think that the United States should stay and babysit while they constantly blow each-other up?

Wow....

haha, i thought this forum was for "intelligent conversations"

not children saying that 9/11 caused the war...

I didn't say that at all.

They have held elections, no? They have security forces, they have a Parliament, etc. What more needs to be set up?

If we really wanted to hunt down all the terrorists, we would need to invade Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, etc... not just Iraq. Its so lame how they can say the war is for anything but oil.

If you even suggest that Iraq is glad we came over, WHY THE HELL ARE THEY GIVING THEIR 12 YEAR OLDS AK-47s TO MAKE US LEAVE.

It also sickens me how we spend billions on this war but we sure as hell aren't a perfect nation to begin with. If we spent 1/5 of the money we use in Iraq on fighting poverty or on education, we could really make a difference. Instead we're fighting a never ending war against a continent that won't end until we leave.

Yup. I am Pro Bush and Pro War.

Think about it. If the US of A had no more trade with the middle east, and hence no more oil, for one the remaining gas prices would be phenominal, and many of us could not do the day to day things we are used to. Hydrogen cars are not everywhere, and not everyone has the money to run out and buy a new car because they cannot fuel their old one.

Soldiers/ War is for American Freedom. Not just freedom of speech and no segregation, but also for the common american to better enjoy his/ her life.

If no one could drive in the US within the next week, just THINK of all the chaos. Government would lose a lot of money for one thing, and us as a whole could not get much done. So many people have to drive to work, and have to drive to school, etc.

Fact of the matter is, even if oil is a major reason to be in war, it is a good reason for now. Plus, if we did not go to war, can you think of how much the president would not be liked? Society would claim the president (whoever) is not ballsy and does not feel the need to help other countries. People would say that US of A is privleged, and we should give time and money to other countries that need it.

*cough* Middle East *cough*

Point being, as much as you think you know about laws, and the rules, and the way things work, you really don't. All you people that blaintly say war is bad because someone you knew died in Iraq, welll guess what, it is not about you, it is about America as a whole.

Would the man in charge of the US purposely make a decision with more negative than good?

And if so, you have yourselves to thank seeing as you put him in office for four, and kept him there for another.

So those 700,000-odd deaths are just the price that must be paid? Must be easy for you to say.

The need for oil is a HORRIBLE justification for war. If you want to use that as your reasoning, go for it, but you will find that your support dwindles quite quickly...

Very true. Lets see you die for oil, viper.

I support first of all because of my userbar.....

second, because i have a brother in the Air Force,

Third, because im not gonna sit back and watch people bash America and complain when there are soldiers out there fighting so they don't have to.

Being part of an organization does not require that you agree with everything that they do.

They wouldn't have to anyway if we hadn't invaded Iraq.

Thank you, Joe Underclass, for giving us your expert opinion on the situation in Iraq! The only reason that he wants to stay is because he doesn't feel right having sacrificed some of his buddies lives. Sometimes, you have to look at the bigger picture, and realize that we're not getting shit done there, and that we're just there for the oil.

After watching the entire video again, it became extremely obvious that the man was making an entirely emotional argument with no logic. Sure, his passion is admirable, but it's not going to work.

we shouldnt't have gone in, we should have let other countries go in. See if we let all of the other countries go in and find him and kill him, also finding no WMD and also all of the other countries starting a war with them and thus saving up hndreds of thousands of lives, in which was wasted for no good reason but to "stop" the terroists...in another country.... across the sea... So that is my opion on the topis ;)
