    the earths fate

The earth is approximatly 5 billion years old. So everyone whos saying millions and billions like the earth is 500 billion years old please stop. Its anoing to read. Over the the course of the 5 billion years the earth has excisted there has been aproximatly 6 world wide extincions. These where caused by iether huge volcanic explosions or astriods hitting the earth.

The earth rejuvenates its self over time. We humans are just a stage in the cycle of the earth.

Earth Gets Basic Life > Evoles > Evoles > Evoles > Big Masica > Death > Earth Gets Basic Life > Evoles... and so on and on.

The earth will not be destroyed untill our sun becomes a "Red Giant" expanding to 10 times its current size. To put this in perspective for you the earth would be inside the sun if it where to become a "Red Giant". The Sun would lowly Expand > Retract > Expand > Retract untill it gravity was so great the Sun would not be able to handle its own gravity and will explode creating huge gas clouds in space. These at some point or another would create another much smaller sun later on in "space" (Cant say life because its not life)

Anyway. Where all gona die unless we can leave this planet at one point

Global Warming wont kill all the Humans on earth...

I think the most realistic thing would be an Asteroid or Meteor hitting the earth.. We can't observe every part of our Solar System so it could be that a Asteroid or Meteor hits the earth without us knowing it was coming.

im pretty sure that if a meteor or asteroid were hurling towards earth we would know about it atleast 20 years in advance , so we are not just going to be hit blindly by a flying rock.

If im not wrong a couple a years ago a Astroid or Meteor passed the earth very close we detected it after it has passed us.

Scientists are actively in the process of cataloging the largest
asteroids. As a rule of thumb, the larger the asteroid, the easier it
is to spot as it nears Earth (and by astronomically 'near', it can
still be decades away from possible impact). So, for a very large
asteroid, the odds are quite good that would know about a possible
impact well in advamce -- enough time to devise a defensive strategy.
However, though the odds are good, they are not 100%. A very large
asteroid could, conceivably, sneak through our observation net.

interesting, that one that was a close hit must have still been hindreds of thousands of kilometres away?

Are we talking about the end of the human race? Or the destruction of Earth?

the destruction of the earth will pretty much be the end of the human race is it not?

Sure if the human race lives on that long..

I am saying... on this thread... are we talking about how the human race is going to be wiped out (i.e. Meteor)? Or how is earth going to be destroyed (i.e. black hole)?

Science will be the very thing to destroy it. We will have killed ourselves long before the sun dies out or some sort of natural disaster totaly wipes out the human race. Just my opinion.

just cause we destroy it doesnt mean that science did.

Essentially, it does. Killer mutation of a manmade virus (yes I just saw "I am Legend), nuclear war, gobal warming (won't destroy us, but thought I'd throw it in), etc. You could even view an asteroid destroying us as the failure of science and technology to stop it.

Point being, if we destroy ourselves, science/technology will be to blame.

What a post full of bullshit.
So you're suggesting that two galaxies will collide, and then another earth will appear as if there are no other planets with inhabitants as or more intelligent than us?
The universe contains trillions upon trillions of galaxies, and you think it possible that we're the only intelligent life?
Not to mention you got it off of fucking youtube.

    Yeh thats just plain stupid...
There are at least 70.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 stars in the visable universe. Lets say that each 1B stars contain 1 planet so it will be

    70.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 \ 1.000.000.000 = 70.000.000.000.000 planets
The chance that only the earth contains intelligent life is really really really really really really small.

I think that the world will not "die" for a long time but i think if we dont don't do something soon then human kind will within the next 200 or so years. It is anatural process for us to die. I think the world will get very hot, hot enought to trigger an ice age(I dont know why but once global warmining gets hot enough its supposed to trigger a ice age) and we will all freeze to death, and we will become the new coal and the earth will recover from our destruction we put upon it and be "reborn" just aswe got it .. .with rainforests and everything

The sun wont die out for another 5 billion years, by then we will of collonized other planets/galaxies if not universes and the sun will not be a threat, NASA is planning to make a base on the moon by 2022.
