Charlottesville, the apparent division, and the fate of America?

With the events that have passed in the past few days, a division is clear between both far left and right ideologies.

What do we do about the cases where BOTH sides cause harm to others? For the extreme left, you have some cases of looters, and violent rabble-rousers. While on the contrary extreme right, when angered, they express language wishing to eliminate all non-white folk in America.

Fox news shows their viewers of some rioters looting and CNN shows racism acts/remarks. When this happens, NOTHING gets done because everyone is too busy pointing fingers at each other. When will people actually be productive and learn to listen and not contribute to the problem? What are possible solutions to these issues? Do we convince people to listen? Or do we force our beliefs to those who oppose our views?

    Discuss.

What a lot of people still need to grasp is the left & the right wing is from The same bird.

It was just another false flag created by the fear-mongering US government

    (1) This happens all the time. Divide and conquer is a tried-and-true strategy that has been used by divisive people for centuries, although typically in a more militaristic implementation. Present day is by no means excluded simply because the mask has changed; political and social dissension are just as effective, if not more so.

    (2) This suggestion, as simple as it sounds, is a great solution to the aforementioned problem. Easier said than done, though.

    (3) In my eyes compassion and understanding are the keys to a world of wonder, especially as far as these kinds of conflicts are concerned. How can you completely ignore an ideology espoused by someone you're making a genuine effort to converse with? How can you spew vitriolic hatred at someone you sincerely care for? How can you ignorantly discount an entire group of people who you have come to understand are just like you? The beauty of compassionate connection and understanding clear the mind of ignorance and hatred created by egotism and insecurities, accelerating our ability to see, think, and communicate by orders of magnitude.

Even if it is the solution, the problem stands, though, that it's difficult to teach something like compassion, understanding, love, even critical thinking. Is it even possible? If so, how do you? Is it possible to do it on a massive scale? Can the current educational system serve as a viable platform? Etc., etc.

Can you explain how this is? Seems to me the left and the right are incredibly different.
