A proper PM*

 

All of this talk about PM's, why not make it a RULE to get/send a PM in order to trade... or wait, I guess that would be too hard to improvise...

How do we expect to curb scams if we do nothing but sing the same song... Require a PM before the trade, or it should not happen. If a user refuses to PM, the report for TWC. Don't make it optional. But I digress

 

This. Make a PM mandatory and let it be known that without one the user in question is not responsible for losses.

Sure itll open the door for victims who were complacent and didnt request a PM and get scammed but who fucking cares at this point. If you dont practice safe trading dont cry when you get fucked.

 

Did you fully read my post? Have users read a blog type thread before making them entering the market. It's not hard to do, I've seen it on many forums.

Guys, I think we should disregard all similar suggestions with the defense "No one will use/follow it". What a simplistic way to view things. What about new rules implemented in the world? No one will follow that right? They make it known and enforce it on us.

Do not enforce anything. This system could be really useful to log transactions, skype and payment details. If people don't want to use it then so be it.

 

I guess no one read the OP and how it's better than an ordinary pm and how it can't be exploited.

Why not have users read a blog about requesting a pm before entering the market? Soooo much simpler.

As in, if you don't send out a PM you should be TWC'd 1st offense, temp banned 2nd offense, etc...

How hard can it be to add it to the rules and then if a user says they didn't know, oh well, you should have read the rules before you posted!!

 

I'm just afraid itll affect sythes user base.

A lot of the traders would simply say "thats a PITA, im going to powerbot" ect. We cant afford that.

 

Many stupid people in here. Don't you guys understand that enforcement isn't an option? It will cause Sythe to lose members.

 

Bit extreme to punish people for not sending PM's to that extent. Enforcing anything like this is in some way restricting market use, which Richard wont allow.

Getting a properly formatted PM is exactly the same security as OP.

There is a whole Sythe guide for people to use and keep themselves safe it's just a matter of getting them to it and reading it. Matthew turned down the welcome PM so that would leave maybe a tutorial mode where small pop up hints appeared in the market or something along that line. Obviously some drawbacks to that as well but I prefer it to enforcing trading procedure.

 

How about instead of relying on our stickies we start to place some of the important points of the rules in the "forum rules" portion of VB. That way those rules are in large text format above the forum.

Could say something like "Always request a PM to confirm you're speaking with the right person".

Simple yet might be effective.
