Mhm, that would be a great idea as well. People trust actual gamer's reviews over those written by big names such as IGN.

 

There are plenty of people on here who would be willing to do it for free I would think. This site is full of dedicated members who would be willing to do it just for the fact that it would be doing the site a positive.

 

I feel the same way. People may want to do it to start but I feel they'll get sick of it. Unless you get some sort of reward for it, I.E a rank, etc.

 

I don't think a rank would be much of a problem. Personally, if I were to give it a go, a UT or so would be just fine, a bit like the MotM UT's.

 

I disagree. I think people would do it for the fun of it, and of course we would know who wrote each article so that recognition would be enough for most people.

 

Perhaps you should get a second opinion on this one x339, I agree with roary and brendan that I feel people would get sick of it without some reward.

 

Alright well if that does end up being the case, it's something we need to discuss later on down the road. Right now we just need to get the initial suggestion approved.

 

Honestly, this is a little bit like the old User Education/Community Assistant systems. Because guides were necessary to create an application to join the team as well as fulfill the UE Checklist, guides were created quite often and there would be a load of members checking out the guides section, a large chunk of them being guests.

I think guides would be more popular compared to news articles.

 

The UE system was a bunch of people creating a bunch of useless guides for the sake of creating guides. News is current and people always want to know what's happening.

I disagree. I believe news articles wouldn't be very popular. Unless you keep it all RuneScape related, because that is the main aim of this site and why members generally originally join.

 

I think that this would be a great addition to the site, as long as it doesn't get too serious.

Sythe.org is a very broad forum, while we revolve more around Runescape, we still have some other very active sections.

As long as we keep to the big news instead of the little things on every game, it should be a success. Just remember, nobody wants to go through a page of articles looking for that one that suits them.

 

Just throwing it out there, but for 11 months I was a news reporter for EvE Online (ISD IC Department) I reported on many in game news events, wrote formal battle reports and general interest stories.

I would be happy to write short general interest articles, will interview snippets, public opinion etc?

 

Boom there we go. Another person willing to do it for fun.

you can simply look up anything you want to know on the forums so whats the point of a news bar?

 

Because maybe someone hasn't made a thread about it or it's not completely accurate? You'd be able to find reviews on new games, bots maybe movies etc too, and have peace of mind that the information is accurate and all in one place. An article style report can be more entertaining to read than someone's thread.

 

Also not to mention that the search function is down so you can't pinpoint certain things, you have to manually go looking for them.
