Why support one bot more than another?

 

Make one for any other large bot. They are fun ranks for crying out loud. Even if a bot dies someone can still keep their rank to show that they were very good at it.

 

I can't imagine that the admins want a whole lot more fun ranks.

 

Matthew doesn't seem to mind as long as there is interest in them.

Why wouldn't there be interest for it?
I don't really get it. Its a small thing to implement, there are plenty of posts that say they'd like it.

There is really nothing to lose. Standing still is going backwards.

I'd really like the Sythe staff to consider and talk about this. I know Simba is just one of the many bots available out there but its the one which has the most questions asked about it, not to mention it's a really good bot to use probably won't get nuked by Jagex.

Definitely support - they're just fun ranks anyway.

This is a good idea actually. It would not advertise anything except the fact that the person with the rank knows how to script/program. It's what the SCAR one is for. Might as well have more than just a Simba programmer and SCAR programmer ranks. Support.

 

I support this for the simple fact, as stated above, they are FUN ranks!
And it may also come in handy if you need someone to write you a script

 

Another plus about this idea is the fact that you can contact one individual with that rank about questions if you ever needed it, instead of posting all over the place. Talking to one person about scripting is way less confusing than everyone throwing in their two cents on threads.

 

I think it's a bad idea, scammers from Sythe will flock to villavu in search of ranks... and then do big ass scams here... Linking the two communities isn't quite something I look forward too.

 

I doubt any scammer would be patient enough to go to villavu, take months of time to learn how to script for simba, just to earn a simba rank at sythe and scam people via selling a script. Too much time and dedication for such little return.

This rank is going to have to be EARNED/Proven worthy to earn, not just handed out to anyone with a villavu account.

The rank will not link anything, simply signify which users are talented simba scripters.

 

I'd think having a 'Bot programmer' rank would be best.

 

A bit too general, some are PASCAL, some are Java, and the two languages are not related at all.

 

Fun ranks don't and should never, ever be taken as a measurement of how trustworthy a member is, exactly the same for Donor ranks. This shouldn't be a problem at all.

Although that is true I don't think it's the case. Many new members look at people with ranks and donor ranks as trusted and we've witnessed it's a couple times recently with people scamming from the admin to donators like that kid synfull who scammed a couple bill if I recall correctly because he had a rank and a newer member didn't know better as most don't. I think this would due more bad then good unless it was only given to staff or highly trusted members.l

 

How would the rank lead to harm?

The only thing it can be 'used' for is aiding in reputation if the user decides to sell a script here.

In that situation more times than not picture proof and video proof of the script would be needed for sales to go well. Also I'm sure anyone with the rank would gladly let a trusted member of the SRL (or whatever scripting community) look over the code/test the script and verify that it is indeed worth buying.

And as I've stated before, I highly doubt anyone would take the months of hard work and dedication to learn to script/earn the rank in order to scam a few mills (scripts don't sell for very much).
