should intelligent design be thought in school?

i was watching cnn yesterday and they were talking about weather intelligent design should be thought in public schools or not. i realy don't see the reason why not.
when i had biology they thought evolution as if it was a law and that evolution was the only way. what i don't get is why is it wrong to teach people intelligent design when they teach evolution.

Religion should be kept out of schools. You can't fairly teach creationism without teaching the beliefs of other religions as well, so science only.

i'm not saying teach religion, just teach kids that there are other point of view other than evolution. like some people believed the earth was created by something.
teachers teach evolution as if it's the only way the earth could have been created and they teach it as if its been 100% proven.

There's plenty of proof of intelligent design....when you see a house, how do you know there was a builder? When you see a painting, how do you know there was a painter? When you see a creation, there's obviously a creator....

But yeah, I think they should teach that there ARE other points of view, and that evolution has not and never will be scientifically proven. Evolution is not fact, it is theory...they don't stress that NEARLY enough.

Evolution is more of a fact and less of a theory. The only reason it is taught as a theory is for political correctness, because Christian parents would be outraged.

If you look on Galapogas island, there are excellent examples of birds who change their form with EVERY generation due to various conditions. Most creationism believers I've talked to say it's absurd to even think that one thing can change into another, but they're too closed-minded. It can.

I went to the Galapagos Islands, and yeah, you could see from the birds that the ones with bigger beaks for eating were more common because of the fish, and the ones with loner ones had a harder time chewing up the fish.

Technically, Intelligent Design doesn't cover any specific religion, but just the theory that an Intelligence of unknown origin created the universe.

Unfortunately, public school science classes are based upon science. Evolution is a theory that seems to cover the questions being asked, and it is testable to some degree. As Intelligent Design is not actually testable, it cannot be taught in public schools.

If, however, some empirical evidence were found that suggested at the presence of a creator, then I would have no problem with it.

    Sure.
Just don't teach it as factual.
    Same with evolution.

And because many scientists would be outraged too... considering it's not fact. At least in your precious "scientific" sense. Gravity is taught as theory as well, we have no proof of how it works... the way the universe is just hints towards such gravitational properties. Just like fossils and other such things hint towards evolution.
That's an example of trait domination and natural selection. No one is doubting that...
Most believers of evolution that I've talked to say it's absurd that there can be an all-powerful supernatural being, but they're too closed-minded. There can be.

What if there was such thing as evolution, AND creationism? What if God created the universe, so precise in detail, that he knew how evolution will work out just the way he wanted it to?

My opinion is to keep religion out of school. School is meant for you to learn things that will help with your job, not your religion.
